Allow me to introduce my home office nook. I now have a dedicated space to create right in time for the new year. If you’ve been here for a while, then you know that this space used to be my beauty corner and the desk was used primarily as a vanity. I would only work here occasionally and typically worked from the sofa, my bed, dining table or wherever I felt comfortable at the moment. That all changed during quarantine though. While working from home for my day job I realized that I needed a dedicated workspace to be more productive. So I transformed this corner into a shared office space while making some home decor updates. I had made a couple of changes since then. Here is what the space looked like before the current makeover…
BEFORE

Now before we talk about the makeover, this corner actually started out as an office nook. I had a desktop computer, printer- the whole setup. When it was time to upgrade my computer I decided on a MacBook Pro for portability, and transformed this space into the vanity that I always wanted. That’s when I was heavily into makeup. I wore a full beat daily and did tutorials regularly. These days I wear minimal makeup and have purged the majority of my collection. I barely sit here to do my makeup anymore and have gone back to using my bathroom mirror. So I moved my makeup to my closet nook…

On top of that, I once again needed to upgrade my computer as the specs on my MacBook Pro are no longer sufficient for creating content. I’m constantly running out of space for the programs necessary to do my work, and my speakers are going bad. Since I have big business plans and goals for the coming year, I bought the new 24″ iMac as a Christmas Gift and investment in myself. I also treated myself to Final Cut Pro (upgrading from iMovie) to take my video editing skills to the next level. Transforming my shared office space back into a dedicated home office nook provides the comfortable and productive space that I need to work. Talk about coming full circle.
AFTER

My office nook is in the corner of my living room. Therefore it was important to me that the space blended in with the decor in the rest of the room. But I also wanted the space to have a little individuality. I used the square abstract rug to achieve this. The rest of the decor is understated glam with simple, yet sophisticated accents. Like the half gold globe bulb in the lamp.

The space is clean, chic, cozy and comfortable. I love how it turned out. Watch my Office Nook Makeover video to get a closer look at how I went about transforming the space.
