A wash and go has been my go to style lately. It’s an easy way to style my hair when it’s super short, and when it’s in the awkward stage of growing it out- like it is now. I have different wash and go routines though. It all depends on how much coil definition I want to achieve, and how much time I want to spend doing my hair. I’m going to share with you guys three tried and true wash and go routines that work well for Type 4 hair. These methods actually work amazingly well for all types of natural hair.
DENMAN BRUSH WASH AND GO
The Denman Brush Wash and Go is my current go to style. I tried this method for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I can’t believe that I waited so long. Especially since I had a denman brush sitting in the house for years. This style is really quick and easy to achieve. The key is making sure that your hair stays extremely wet while styling. This wash and go routine can be used on all lengths of natural hair.
COMB WASH AND GO
The Comb Wash and Go is very similar to the Denman Brush Wash and Go. The difference is the tools used- a rat tail comb is used in lieu of the denman brush. This wash and go routine is perfect for styling super short natural hair and teeny weeny afros. But it also works well for styling longer hair.
THE SHINGLING METHOD
The Shingling Method is the wash and go routine that I use when I want really defined coils, and I want the style to last a few weeks. The method is more time consuming and tedious. But the results are definitely worth the time spent styling your hair. This wash and go routine works best for short to medium length hair. As your hair grows longer, I’d suggest switching to the Denman Brush Wash and Go.
