Pamper Yourself This Valentine’s Day With An At Home Spa Day

To celebrate Valentine's Day, I'll be pampering myself with an At Home Spa Day. Here are some ideas if you'd like to do the same...
At Home Spa Day

As a single gal, Valentine’s Day is a day to pamper myself and love on me. I usually treat myself to a spa day, take myself out on a date and buy myself something nice. These days I only go out when I absolutely have to due to the pandemic. So I’ll be doing things a little different this year- pampering myself in the comforts of mi casa with an At Home Spa Day. Here are some ideas if you’d like to do the same…

TAKE A CANDLELIT BUBBLEBATH

Kick off your At Home Spa Day with a candlelit bubblebath. Invest in a bamboo bath tray, bath pillow, bath brush, some candles, foaming bubble bath and epsom salt for the occasion (and future occasions). Grab your favorite bottle of wine and some fruit if you’d fancy. Play some 90’s R n’ B. Lay back, relax & let the stress melt away. Give your body a good scrub down after soaking. Oh, and don’t forget to hit your feet with a pumice stone. When you get out, rub yourself down with a massage oil and put on your favorite slip dress or sexy lingerie.

GIVE YOURSELF A FACIAL

Now that your body is squeaky clean, it’s time to show your face some extra attention with an At Home Facial. Cleanse. Exfoliate. Steam. Mask. Tone. Treatment/Serum. Moisturize. In that order. The steam part is very important as it opens up your pores allowing for a deeper clean, and for the products to penetrate better. You can add a few drops of essential oils to your facial steamer- like lavender oil to help you relax, or eucalyptus oil to open up your sinuses. If you don’t have a facial steamer, then boil a small pot of water and pour the hot water into a bowl. Drape a towel over your head and shoulders so that it hangs in front of your face. Then hold your face at least 6 inches away from the hot water to steam. You can see some of my skincare recommendations here.

DIY MANI & PEDI

I’m the Queen of doing my own nails. I only go to the salon on special occasions or when I’m going on vacation, and I usually don’t like the outcome. But under the current circumstances I won’t be going to nobody’s salon any time soon. Besides, there’s something so relaxing about polishing your own nails. So a sis will be doing her own quick mani & pedi as part of my At Home Spa Day. Quick tip- push your cuticles back while you’re soaking in the tub. You’ll be able to give them a quick trim when you get out. Otherwise, soak your feet in a pedicure tub or basin while doing the mask part of your facial. Put on your favorite red polish in honor of the occasion. I prefer royal blue though as it brightens my mood.

DINNER & A MOVIE

Now that you’re all pampered and pretty, it’s time to eat good. If you’re up to cooking, then you can try a new recipe like this Honey Jerk Salmon or this Jerk Salmon Rasta Pasta. Not up to cooking? Then order delivery from your favorite black owned restaurant. Enjoy your meal with a glass of wine (or three) and curl up on the couch to watch your favorite black love movies. I’d highly suggest Love Jones, Jason’s Lyric, Love & Basketball & Poetic Justice. Don’t forget dessert, sis. You deserve it!
