It's Okay To Look Basic #NYFW

Fashion is an expression of ones personal style. Not everyones personal style is over the top. Some people like to look basic. And that’s okay. I’m one of those people. I’ve mentioned many times that I’ve developed a minimalist style over the years. Simple pieces in neutral colors, with a few bold accessories thrown in. I used to feel that I had to buy new pieces to transform my look for New York Fashion Week. But not anymore. I’ve realized that it’s okay to look basic for NYFW if that’s your look. Be yourself. You don’t have to change up your style to blend in with others.

It’s so easy for me to put fashion week looks together since I’ve come to this realization. Especially when I have to navigate a long day, and it’s 95 degrees outside like the first day of NYFW. My trusty black jumpsuit came to the rescue. The simple styling and lightweight fabric made it the perfect piece for the occasion. I added trendy earrings along with a bold bag and shoes. And the look took me to work, after work drinks and to Texture on the Runway later in the evening.

To look basic is not always a bad thing. Sometimes less is more. It’s amazing how you can still shine bright in a simple outfit. It’s because you’re comfortable and confident in your look, and your natural light shines as a result. If you like to look over the top and pull out your fancy pieces for fashion week, then you can do that too. Like I said earlier, it’s all about being yourself. Do you boo.
