Tomorrow is the first day of Fall and I’m super excited. I’m a Fall baby (Sunday is my birthday) so this is my favorite season. There’s nothing like the cool crisp air and the return of hot apple cider and pumpkin spice everything. But I’m most excited for Fall fashion. Although I’m not big on trendy clothing I still look forward to the Fall trend report. I love when trends include timeless pieces that I may already have in my closet, or won’t feel bad about adding to my minimalist wardrobe. There are a few trends that fit the bill this season. Here are 3 Fall 2018 Fashion Trends that will elevate your minimalist style.

Fall 2018 Fashion Trends Glen Plaid

1. PLAID

Plaid is never really out of fashion. It’s just a matter of what type of plaid is trending at the moment. You can never go wrong with glen plaid though. The pattern is timeless. Add a classic menswear-inspired glen plaid blazer to your closet and you’ll wear it forever. Stick with classic black and white styles, or one with a subtle pop of color.

Drawstring Bag Trend Baggu Leather Bucket Bag

2. DRAWSTRING BAGS

Drawstring bags will be everywhere this Fall. Especially hand held tiny pouches that can barely fit your phone and lipstick. Don’t even try to fit your wallet in as it’s not happening. I’ve been trying to edit what I carry on a daily basis to allow me to wear smaller bags more often. But editing my daily essentials to fit into a tiny pouch is a stretch. A simple bucket bag fulfills the drawstring bag trend but fits a lot more. And since it’s a timeless style you’ll be able to wear it long after drawstring bags stop trending.

3. ANIMAL PRINT

Animal prints are taking over for Fall and I’m here for it. I’m not big on animal print clothing anymore with the exception of a faux fur coat. However I live for a fly leopard or snake print shoe or boot. Wear them as you would neutral shoes to make your minimalist wardrobe more exciting. I’ve been living in these leopard mules all Summer (you’ve seen them here, here, here and here). And I’ll probably wear them out by end of Fall. I’m definitely going to need a back up pair. In the meantime I’ve added this snakeskin bootie to my collection. I may also have to add a leopard pair as well.
