Last night I attended a press preview of the Beautyblender Bodega Pop Up and got a sneak peek at their new launch, the Bounce Foundation. The pop up shop is too cute. It’s decked out in signature Beautyblender pink. Along with Bounce newspapers, where you’ll find all of the scoop on the new foundation…
And of course lots of instagram worthy corners.
I love cutesy spaces. My cousin Mo and I had so much fun snapping pics.
The Beautyblender Bodega Pop Up is located at 168 Bowery and will be open from July 25th-26th, 10am-8pm if you’d like to visit yourself.
Now on to the new Bounce Foundation. The Beautyblender Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation ($40) is a lightweight liquid foundation with a multidimensional velvet matte finish. The Hyperwhip process whips the formula into a light as air texture, making it easily blendable. The foundation is buildable from medium to full coverage and lasts for up to 24 hrs wear.
The Beautyblender Bounce Foundation is available in 32 shades. Ranging from Light, Medium, Medium+ and Deep, with warm, cool and neutral undertones.
Seven of these shades are in the Deep range. However only about four of those really cater to the brown skinned beauties. I was able to swatch three of them…
Top to bottom:
4.6 (second to darkest) deep with neutral undertones
4.4 deep with neutral undertones
4.5 deep with warm undertones
As you can see, not a single one of these shades comes close to being a match for me. They are all too dark or not dark enough. Or leans too yellow or too red. There should be at least two shades in between each of these. The missing shade 4.7 is the darkest shade and has cool undertones. I’m pretty sure a lot of women of color will not be able to find a match. This is unacceptable in almost 2019 when brands are coming out the gate with 40 shades (ahem Fenty Beauty). And at least half of the shades are catering to the brown skinned beauties. Giving us four shades is an insult at this point. I’m truly disappointed.

At least I had a good time at the pop up shop and took cute photos. Of course I left empty-handed though. Beautyblender if you’re reading this, please do better.
