My Second Big Chop & Why I Decided To Cut It All Off Again

If you follow me on social media, then you know that I did a second big chop. I've been getting tons of comments and DMs asking why. So here goes...

My Second Big Chop

If you follow me on social media (and you should lol), then you know that I did a second big chop. For those of you that don’t follow me… Surprise, I chopped off all of my hair. Again. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. But of course there has been a few Negative Nancy’s. I don’t know why people get so worked up about other people’s hair. Do what you want with your hair, and let me do what I want with mine. Anyway, I’ve been getting tons of comments and DMs asking why. So here goes…

Big Chop Again

I chopped off my hair again simply because I wanted to. Now I’m not trying to be smart or sarcastic. If you’ve been following me for a while then you know that I’m pretty random with my hair. I change hairstyles often. And since I prefer my hair short, I cut it quite frequently. I’m going on vacation to Punta Cana in a few weeks. My original plan was to put my Goddess Locs back in, and keep the sides shaved. However, I’ve been wanting to do a second big chop for a hot minute. But was experimenting with letting my hair grow out. I decided that my Summer vacation would be the perfect time to cut my hair. After thinking about it, I figured why wait until vacation. Rock it short all Summer long. It makes it so much easier to get up and go. So I took my clippers and cut it all off.

2nd Big Chop

I absolutely love my short cut and may keep it shorter until it gets cold. I went even shorter than I did for my first big chop. One comment kind of struck a nerve. The person said they hoped that the picture I posted of my big chop was old, and they hoped that I hadn’t ruined my hair. Ruined my hair? Hair is just that, hair. Don’t be afraid to cut it all off, it grows back. Be creative and do what you want with YOUR hair. At the end of the day it’s on your head. I’m surely going to continue to do what I want with mine!

Stay tuned as I filmed My Second Big Chop and will be posting the tutorial soon!

  1. You look beautiful. What is your hair regimen after the bc? Actually I cut my hair one month ago and my hair are getting dry. Thanks??

    1. Thank you so much. I apply a leave in Conditioner and Coiling gel, and do brush coils. Then I lift them with a pick and gel my edges. It lasts for a few days, minus the edges which I gel daily

    1. Thank you so much boo. People kill me on the internet. If you don’t like something, keep it moving smh

  2. Iv been following you for a little over a year now. You taught me how to get through my twa stages. So first off thank you! Secondly, I love short hair! I rocked a bald fade for years! 3. I admire your confidence, you look beautiful in any hair style/length you choose. It’s always funny to me the way some people react to women cutting THEIR hair as if it takes away from her beauty or femininity. Keep doing you hon and love your daily IG stories

    1. Thank you so much, hun. I think people are just so obsessed with long hair. I spent my childhood years wishing my hair was longer. Now as an adult I prefer to keep it super short. I actually feel like cutting off your hair can be a major beauty boost as it brings out your facial features and eyes ☺️

  4. Erica, you look amazing!! I love your style and confidence. It shows off that pretty face and your cheekbones! Don’t pay attention to the hairdycats!! Wear your hair the way YOU want to wear your hair.

  5. May I ask what you’re wearing on your lips? The color is divine! And you look beautiful!

  6. I soooo love your hair and you are just beautiful! I have very 4c hair and I recently (1 month ago) finally got enough courage to get rid of the wigs and embrace my own hair. I did a super low fade chop in Jan and now my hair is like a naturally tappered fro all by itself no shape up or trim and I just love it…I came across your blog “your 4c natural hair is fly so let your fro Glo Queen” on pintrest….very uplifting to someone who used to hate their hair…..embracing my hair has been the most liberating thing I have ever done! Thank you for your inspiration sis! and Definately following you on IG! ❤

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I am so glad that I can inspire you sis. Keep on loving on yourself! xo 🙂
