I’ve been attending The Makeup Show NYC for six years now, and always cover the same brands. So I decided to do things a bit different this time around. Here’s some new & splurge worthy products from the black-owned beauty brands that were in attendance.
I fell in love with the AJ Crimson Beauty Dual Skin Creme Foundations. They are so light and creamy, and a little goes a long way. AJ Crimson is opening a flagship store here in NYC this Summer, on 34th St and 5th Ave. I’ll let you guys know exactly when as soon as I know.
The new Danessa Myricks Beauty Vision Cream Cover is an all-in-one concealer and foundation created with texture mimicking technology to mimic perfect skin. It’s lightweight, super creamy and a tiny bit goes a long way.
The Danessa Myricks Beauty Illuminating Veil is a cream highlighter that adds glow to the face and body. You can wear the highlighter alone, layer it under a powder highlighter or mix it with foundation.
The newest shade, Queen, is gorgeous and will look amazing on cocoa complexions.
The Danessa Myricks Beauty Enlight Illuminators are powder highlighters that gives the skin a soft, sophisticated glow. They are absolutely gorgeous. I had to add Gocha Glow (swatches & review) to my collection.
Glamorous Chicks Cosmetics had a huge selection of liquid lipsticks in matte, metallic and cream finishes. They also had some beautiful pigments, and the glitters look amazing layered over the lipsticks.
The new Juvia’s Place Saharan Blush Palettes are extremely pigmented and absolutely beautiful, especially Vol 1 (top). This was the brand’s first time at TMS NYC.
Bawse Lady, Maneater, As If, Rebel, Class Act
It really felt good to see so many products made for us, by us. With extensive shade ranges to match all brown complexions. I’m looking forward to seeing more black-owned beauty brands at The Makeup Show in the years to come. My apologies if I missed any brands.
