Nyakio is an ethnically sourced skincare collection inspired by global beauty secrets. Founder Nyakio Kamoche Grieco, a first-generation American of Kenyan descent, partnered with Sundial Brands (creators of SheaMoisture) to bring her family recipes to the US market. The products combine cultural traditions with modern formulas to deliver premium personalized beauty. I received a few products for review consideration, and have been testing them for a few weeks. They’re amazing!
The Sweet Almond Cleansing Oil Balm is a balm-to-oil cleanser that gently melts away dirt, makeup and impurities. Leaving behind radiantly clean skin. Conditioning and clarifying, the oil is sourced directly from a sun soaked almond grove in the Spanish countryside.
I’ve been using the oil balm to remove my makeup at night. The balm is extremely concentrated and removes every bit of makeup and dirt. Even waterproof eyeliner and mascara. The oil leaves the skin feeling clean and moisturized. You can stop at this step. Or follow it with the coffee face polish for extra cleansing and exfoliating.
The Kenyan Coffee Face Polish combines Kenyan coffee, moisturizing shea butter and jojoba. Kenyan Coffee is rich in antioxidants and caffeine. Nyakio’s grandmother, a Kenyan Coffee Farmer, introduced her to this beauty secret. She would finely crush fresh coffee beans to make a scrub. Then massage it on her skin with a piece of sugar cane. The result was softer, smoother skin.
The polish is rich and creamy with a light, sweet fragrance. Like vanilla with just a hint of coffee. It gently exfoliates to reveal youthful, glowing skin. The coffee particles are the perfect size and not too harsh.
The Baobab Youth Infused Daily Defense Creme is formulated with antioxidant rich baobab oil. The baobab “Tree of Life” has high levels of vitamin A, E and omegas 3, 6 and 9. The creme restores skins natural glow and helps defend skin against damaging free radicals. It’s lightweight and sinks right into the skin, leaving it feeling firm, moisturized and glowing.
