Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer VS L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD

Make Up For Ever has finally released the deeper shades of the Ultra HD Concealer. But how do they compare to my beloved L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer? Keep reading to find out!

Make Up For Ever Pro Conceal HD Concealer Deeper Shades

I was extremely disappointed when I reviewed the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer almost a year ago. The shade selection didn’t cater to us brown skinned beauties at all. The darkest concealing and corrective shades were a few shades too light for those of us with deeper complexions. This came as a surprise since the brand usually has a very extensive shade range. Apparently Make Up For Ever was working on perfecting the formula and has finally released the deeper shades.

Make Up For Ever Pro Conceal HD Concealer Deeper Shades

There are four new shades of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer, two to conceal and two to color correct.

Make Up For Ever Pro Conceal HD Concealer Y49, Y51, R50, R52

Y49 Amber (conceal), Y51 Coffee (conceal), R50 Orange (correct), R52 Chocolate (correct)

The shade range works well with my complexion. I use Amber to highlight under my eyes, my nose, forehead, lips and chin. It provides a very natural looking highlight. Orange works great to cancel out the dark circles under my eyes. Coffee works well to conceal dark spots all over the face, but it’s a little dark for my Winter complexion. Chocolate would be the perfect shade to contour, but I prefer a cream or powder contour. I usually use the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer, but I find myself grabbing the MUFE concealers more for everyday wear as they are lighter and blend a little better for a more natural look. I still prefer the L.A. Girl Concealers when I’m going out as they are heavier and provide more of a flawless finish without having to build it up.

Speaking of the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer, let’s compare the shades…

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer Amber vs L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Toffee & Fawn

MUFE Ultra HD Concealer Amber vs L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Toffee & Fawn

I don’t really use Fawn as it stands out too much for my taste. My go to shade for highlighting is Toffee which is about 2 shades lighter than my complexion. It provides a poppin’ highlight, but not too over the top. MUFE Amber is great for an everyday highlight.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer Coffee vs L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Chestnut

MUFE Ultra HD Concealer Coffee vs L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Chestnut

Coffee is a little dark to conceal my Winter complexion, but is not very noticeable when blended. Chestnut is a perfect match.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer Orange vs L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Orange Correcter

MUFE Ultra HD Concealer Orange vs L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Orange Corrector

The MUFE Orange is actually more of a true orange shade, while the L.A. Girl Orange Corrector leans more Salmon.

I absolutely love both the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer and the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer as both serve their purpose in my collection. The MUFE concealers are best for a natural looking finish. The L.A. Girl Concealers are best for a flawless, beat to the gawds look. If I had to choose one for personal use it would be the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer as it costs 9x less. For professional use it would be the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer since they are lighter yet buildable, blends a little better, and can be mixed easier to create new shades. It also creases less.

The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer is available at Sephora and Make Up For Ever online and in stores $27

The L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer is available at Drugstore, Walgreens, and Amazon $2.99-$4.99

The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealers were provided for review consideration. The L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealers were purchased with my own money.  See my Disclosure page for additional information.

  1. Hey, would you please show us girls who don’t know a thing about putting on make up how it’s done? I am a shade darker then you, have normal dry skin but now that I am getting older I notice under my eyes are getting darker. What product would be best for under my eyes? What type of foundation would be best for me? I don’t want to look oily and I don’t want to have to keep putting make up on?

  2. How do you think the Makeup Forever R50 corrector stands up to MAC’s Peach Lustre corrector/highlighter?
