As much as I love rocking my fro, protective styling is sometimes necessary to give the hair a break. One of my favorite protective styles is Bantu Knots. I usually put my hair in Bantu Knots in preparation for a Bantu Knot Out. But I leave them in for up to a week before pulling them apart since they look so cute. It’s such an edgy style and I’m totally obsessed. I will be rocking this style more frequently, especially now that my hair is long enough again to create it.
Bantu Knots are extremely easy to do. You simply part the hair in even sections and twist into little knots. You can do square parts. Triangle parts. And even get creative and add cornrows in between. You can two strand twist the hair first. Or twist as if you are doing finger coils (like I did with this set). Marley hair can even be added to create bigger knots. Best of all, you get an entirely new style when you pull the knots apart. Here is how my hair looked when I took down this set…
Check out my Bantu Knot Out Tutorial that I did last year to get an idea of how to do Bantu Knots yourself. While I used the finger coil method for the Bantu Knots in this post, I used the two strand twist method in the tutorial.
