products for shiny natural hair

As a naturalista, dull, frizzy hair can be a major issue. Especially if you have type 4 hair. My 4c hair tends to lose it’s luster after a few days of wearing a style. Frizz is also a problem, especially in the Summer heat and humidity. I currently have these products in my arsenal to keep my tresses shiny, glossy and frizz free. Want shiny natural hair? Then keep reading…

Fantasia IC Coconut Oil Hair Polisher

The Fantasia IC line of hair products has always been a go to for me. I absolutely love their Tea Tree Shampoo, and their Hair Polisher Heat Protector was my holy grail when I was relaxed. The brand has released a new line of oil inspired products which are great for shiny natural hair, and my hair loves them.

Fantasia IC Jamaican Black Castor Oil

The 100% Natural Jamaican Black Castor Oil strengthens hair to prevent breakage and helps return scalp to normal, healthy condition. It also adds shine and conditions dry, damaged hair. I use the JBCO for the L.O.C. method (leave-in, oil, cream) and it leaves my hair super moisturized and shiny. I also use it to nourish my hair and scalp when it gets dry in between styles.

Fantasia IC Shea Butter Oil Hair Polisher

The Shea Butter Oil Polisher helps condition dry, brittle hair, hydrates the scalp and leaves hair soft and manageable. I use it to rejuvenate my hair after wearing protective styles like two-strand twists or finger coils for a few days. I apply it while taking the twists or coils apart.

Fantasia IC Coconut Oil Hair Polisher

The Coconut Oil Hair Polisher helps reduce split ends and smoothes the cuticle layer of the hair for intense shine. It prevents hair from breaking, encouraging growth, and adds softness and manageability. I use the Coconut Oil Polisher the same way that I use the Shea Butter Oil Polisher.

OGX Coconut Water Weightless Hydration Oil

OGX Coconut Water Weightless Hydration Oil

A nutrient-rich oil infused with coconut water, electrolytes and a hint of coconut oil. I use the oil daily to rejuvenate my style and add moisture and shine. The oil does a great job of making my natural hair shine and getting rid of frizz, without weighing it down.

OGX Argan Oil In-shower Oil

OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Miracle In-Shower Oil

A multi-tasking oil with a powerful formula blend of argan oil and silk proteins. Can be used for a variety of tasks including hydrating and nourishing skin, smoothing split ends and as an enhancement to conditioner. I use this oil to boost my deep conditioner treatments and add it to my hair with whatever conditioner I’m using. It adds slip, making my hair easier to detangle, and leaves it soft and shiny.

OGX Healing + Vitamin E Penetrating Oil

A concentrated oil infused with healing Vitamin E that penetrates, protects and heals brittle, damaged hair. It gives the hair a healthy-looking glow and lowers the risk of future breakage. This oil is great for mixing with your leave in conditioner for shiny natural hair. I plan to try this out as a hot oil treatment.

ORS Black Olive Oil Repair 7 Oil Elixer

ORS Black Olive Oil Repair 7 Oil Elixer

Highly potent oil elixer that transforms dry, damaged hair back to vibrant health. Hair instantly looks glossier, shinier and silkier. The oil provides 7 Benefits- thermal protection, shine, frizz control, anti-breakage, strengthens, reconstructs and adds body. I use it as a thermal protectant when I need to blow out my hair for a trim, or when I’m using the blow dryer to style my hair. I also plan to give this one a shot as a hot oil treatment.

It’s very important to use a clarifying shampoo when washing hair after using products with silicones, especially if using them on a daily basis. Some people are apprehensive about using ‘cones, but my hair loves them. Not shown here, but I also swear by Trader Joe’s Organic, Virgin Coconut Oil. It’s great for moisturizing the hair, getting rid of frizz and adding shine. If you’re not a fan of the ‘cones you can use that instead. I always use either 100% JBCO or Coconut Oil when doing the L.O.C. Method.

Have you tried any of these products for shiny natural hair?

  1. These are fab tips, I’m interested in the OXG w/Vitamin E because in my 30s somehow my hair became majorly prone to breakage even when it was natural and I was doing most of the right things (no blowdrying, sleeping in silk scarves, Biotin every day bla bla). It’s getting a bit beter now though. Have a lovely wkend ( :
