The new Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation is the reformulation of the pro makeup artist’s favorite Face & Body Foundation, delivering the same results with an upgraded formula.
The Water Blend Foundation combines the comfort of a sheer foundation with the performance that pro makeup artists demand. The buildable, lightweight formula delivers a flawless and dewy finish for a beautiful, even complexion. The Water Blend Foundation is available in 20 shades to suit a wide variety of complexions and skin tones. Make Up For Ever sent me a few of the deeper shades to try out- Amber, Cognac and Cinnamon.
The Water Blend Foundation is formulated with 80% purified water infused with vitamin B5 to provide hydration and improve skin elasticity. Coated micro-fine pigments improve payoff and skin affinity with guaranteed waterproof and transfer-proof coverage. The unique, water-gel texture feels smooth and light, even when it dries to a resistant finish for flawless, all day wear.
The foundation is housed in a chic glass bottle with a pump, making it easy to dispense the perfect amount.

Water Blend Foundation in Amber, Cognac & Cinnamon
Dried down and slightly blended
The foundation is extremely lightweight with a water-gel texture. It’s thin to the point that I believe it can be used to airbrush (and I can’t wait to try.) It’s very sheer yet buildable, but not to the point of being full coverage. If you have any flaws they will be visible. It pretty much enhances your natural complexion, leaving your skin flawless with a dewy finish.
Cognac mixed with Cinnamon (blended swatch on right)
Amber is too light for my complexion, and Cognac is slightly too deep. Cinnamon comes extremely close to being a perfect match, but it leans a little too orange. The best match for me is Cognac mixed with Cinnamon, as shown above. Here I’m wearing Cognac mixed with Cinnamon and it’s a perfect match. I took this photo after wearing the foundation for 8+ hours.
As an oily girl I have to say that this is phenomenal. Hydrating formulas usually leaves me a greasy mess, but the water blend foundation makes me glow. I did blot my t-zone a few times throughout the day to eliminate excess shine. To apply the foundation I mixed two pumps of both Cognac and Cinnamon, wet a beauty blender with MUFE Mist & Fix, and gently pressed and rolled the foundation into my skin until blended. I primed with the MUFE Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer (Mattifying Primer on the t-zone.) Then I set with the MUFE HD Powder. I finished off the look with light highlighting and contouring. My melanin is straight poppin’ and this is now my go to Summer Makeup Look!
The Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation is available at Make Up For Ever online and in boutiques, and at Sephora $43
