The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors have been on my radar for a while now, so I was glad to get the opportunity to try a few shades through Influenster.
The Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors is a collection of vivid colors that prove “subtle just doesn’t cut it.” The creamy formula glides easily onto lips resulting in full color coverage with a velvety finish. The Vivid Mattes are available in 10 shades ranging from nudes, to reds and deep plums. I was sent Rebel Red and Nude Flush.
The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors comes in a simple rectangular tube with a doe foot wand for easy application.
Rebel Red, Nude Flush
Maybelline Vivid Matte Rebel Red

Maybelline Vivid Matte Nude Flush
Blush toned nude
Both shades are extremely pigmented and universally flattering, but that’s where the compliments end. I have a serious problem with the Maybelline Vivid Mattes- they are not matte at all. Nor are they demi-matte or satin. Nope. They are straight up super saturated lip glosses. For best application Maybelline suggests applying one thin layer following the contours of the mouth, then kissing a tissue and allowing to dry for an ultra-matte finish. First of all, a thin layer is not enough as the color is not opaque so you need a second coat. Secondly, no matter what you do the lip color does not dry down to anything near a matte finish. This is an epic fail in my book. On a brighter note, the Vivid Mattes feels good on the lips, are non-drying and are also very long wearing.
If these were marketed as vivid lip glosses they would be right on the money! Available at Walgreens, Target, Ulta, and Drugstore $6.99-$7.99

Ok yea they definitely don’t dry down to anything remotely close to matte! However they do come in pretty colors and are comfy to wear, but the floral scent can be nauseating… I’m on the fence with these myself and have returned all but one of them because the color was so pretty and unquie for drugstore lippies.
Thank you so much for reminding me about the scent. Ugh I can’t stand it! You’re right though, the colors are pretty.
Just discovered your blog while looking for some Big Chop ideas. I want to commend you on this post. All over the internet, I see reviews from people who were given products for “their unbiased and honest” review. About 99.99% of the time 5 stars and glowing reports are given. It just doesn’t seem credible. But here you are actually reviewing the product fairly which I very much appreciate. Thank you.
You’re very welcome. I do my best to give my honest opinion at all times while making it clear that just because something doesn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work you!
Hey Erica, I love your sunnies! Where did you get them from? Link please? 🙂
Thank you. I got them from a street vendor, but a similar pair is available here 🙂
