One of my favorite hairstyles is a Flat Twist Out. It allows my natural curl pattern to pop while elongating my curls, reducing shrinkage. I’ll do a tutorial soon, but in the meantime I wanted to share my go to products to create this style. I’ve tried a bunch of different products, but this trio from the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus line gives me amazing results every time.
The SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus line is geared toward thick, curly hair. It contains Coconut Oil and Shea Butter to penetrate scalp and hair to restore moisture. The Curl & Style Milk, Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Curling Gel Soufflé is the perfect trio to style my hair in a Flat Twist Out using the L.O.C. Method. The Curl & Style Milk detangles, conditions and restores curls while restoring body and shine. I apply this to my hair while soaking wet as a leave in conditioner, and lock it in with virgin, organic coconut oil. My hair is left extremely moisturized with poppin’ coils. Next I apply a generous amount of the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Curling Gel Soufflé to the sides and back that’s too short to do flat twists, and finger shingle with the Eden Body Works Coconut Shea Curling Jelly. For the rest of my hair that’s long enough to flat twist, I make sure it remains soaking wet, part in small sections, apply a small amount of Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Curling Gel Soufflé to each section, and then flat twist. I air dry overnight and then take the twists apart and lift my roots with a pick.
The result is a bomb Flat Twist Out. A head of fluffy coils with lots of body and volume, and the style lasts for about a week before I wash and redo. The process will be more clear once I film a video tutorial for you guys, which I’ll do soon.

I’m so jelly over your hair…those particular products just weigh down my tresses! Can you tell me what contour/bronzing product your using? It’s beautiful!
Thank you so much. I used MAC Film Noir blush!
I love your hair! Think I want to do the chop in the next few weeks. I love that you can make your hair last for a week. Do you workout? If so, does it still last?
Thank you so much. I don’t work out very often.
