Gorilla Snot Gel Keeps Them Edges On Sleek

Gorilla Snot is the best edge control gel that I've tried so far. It keeps my 4c edges laid for hours. Straight on sleek like my old relaxed edges!

Gorilla Snot Gel Review

I’ve been living under a rock because I had never heard of Gorilla Snot Gel until this past weekend when my little sisters were raving about it. They even had my momma sold so I had to try it out for myself, and had them go and pick me up a jar. Perks of being the oldest lol.

Gorilla Snot Gel Review

Gorilla Snot or Moco de Gorilla is a hair styling gel with extraordinary hold, formulated for anti-gravitational hairstyles like mohawks. It comes in different formulations, each with a different level of holding power. This review is for PUNK which is described as indestructible and has a hold of 10, which is the strongest.

The name (albeit a bit disgusting) is very befitting as the gel has a very sticky, snot like texture. The jar makes it easy for me to dab my finger in and get a small amount, but it’s also available in a squeeze tube which is easier for dispensing larger amounts.

Gorilla Snot Gel Review

I decided to try the Gorilla Snot Gel on my uncooperative edges and when I say my 4c edges were laid, girllll they were laid. Straight on sleek like my old relaxed edges. I’ve been using it everyday since. I wet my edges and lay them down with a toothbrush (designated for my hair), then I apply a small amount of the Gorilla Snot and brush it in. You don’t need much at all. Once dry, my edges stay in place all day. Here is how they look after 12 hours…

Gorilla Snot Gel 4C Hair Edges

I like a very subtle look when it comes down to gelled edges, nothing too dramatic or all down the sides of my face like my old JHS days. The Gorilla Snot Gel provides the look and hold that I want and stays put without flaking. At night I rinse it off with water when I wash my face to avoid build up, and reapply the next day. This is the best edge control that I’ve tried so far. The only negative thing is that alcohol is the third ingredient and alcohol can dry out the hair. I haven’t had any issues with drying using the Gorilla Snot on my edges, but I wouldn’t use it on my entire head without applying a really good leave-in conditioner first.

Gorilla Snot Gel is super inexpensive. It can be found online and in select Target stores $2.69

The product(s) in this post was purchased with my own my sisters money.  See my Disclosure page for additional information.

I just big chopped and always hate those gel twists but I like the way that you styled them coming forward, they look awesome

  2. I second the previous comment! Thank you for your review on this product. I just picked up a jar today at my local Target, I can’t wait to give it a try.

I read your posts about this product last year but didnt get to putchase this product until now on amazon since I am in the Uk and believe me…it is the absolute best that I used on my 4c edges!!! Yesssss, finally. Thank you so much for telling us about it.

    1. I wouldn’t use it on locs as it’s very gooey and sticky. I don’t even use it on my entire head, only my edges. I hope that helps.

  4. The gel looking great and look it work well for you. But just one question come in my mind, is it safe for using on thin hair? My hair is very thin and i am afraid to try something new on it.

  5. I saw some things saying that this gel is bad for your hair i just want to make sure it won’t mess up my 4c hair because my hair is something that I really care about and I don’t want it to get ruined by using this gel so if anyone has any comments and thoughts I would like to know and their experiences on gorilla snot gel

    1. This is a whole write up on the gel. I use it. Not as often as I used to because I don’t always require/want extreme hold anymore. But everyone’s hair is different, and I properly take care of my hair. It has not messed up my hair. Use it at your own discretion.
