Make Up For Ever STEP 1 Skin Equalizer Primers is a range of skin primers developed to refine, smooth and even out skin. The exclusive Equalizer Complex features Acti Tensor 3D, Hyaluronic Acid, and Regeactive, which help to hydrate, firm, and smooth the skin to create the perfect makeup canvas. The Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer is available in ten formulas to target every texture and tone concern, and I was sent over four for review- Mattifying, Smoothing, Hydrating and Nourishing.
MATTIFYING PRIMER is the answer to unwanted shine, fighting against excess oil to ensure a matte makeup result. Formulated with a specific Sebustop Vegetal Complex, this first step equalizer instantly reduces pore size and controls shine.
SMOOTHING PRIMER instantly fills in and blurs imperfections for silky soft skin. The satiny, non-oily formula evens out skin texture by minimizing pores, wrinkles and fine lines. Skin looks resurfaced and perfectly smooth.
HYDRATING PRIMER instantly quenches skin’s thirst by helping to boost and refresh tired skin. Formulated with a specific H₂O Complex, it provides moisture transforming dehydrated skin into a supple, healthy, plump surface.
NOURISHING PRIMER instantly replenishes dry and dehydrated skin with a moisture-rich soothing formula. A specific Vegetal Complex feeds skin, hydrating and reviving it while antioxidants protect from the elements. Its rich and creamy texture melts on the skin to nourish and sooth. Restores elasticity and revitalizes skin to ensure a more uniform texture.

Since I have an oily t-zone, I’ve been using the Mattifying Primer on my t-zone. I apply a very small amount on my oily areas and blend it in quick as it dries fast. Makeup applies smooth over the primer, and it controls oil for about 4 hours before I need to blot. I’ve been using the Smoothing Primer on the rest of my face and it works really well. My foundation goes on smooth with a flawless finish and stays put for up ten hours.
Make Up For Ever suggests trying the Smoothing or Hydrating Primer if you don’t know where to start. I highly suggest the Mattifying Primer if you have oily skin.
The Make Up For Ever STEP1 Skin Equalizer Primers are available at Sephora $36
I’ve only tried to mattifying primer so far but I’m going back for the smoothing and hydrating one now that the cold weather has hit my city.
I love the smoothing. Going to try the hydrating around the perimeter of my face when my skin gets dry in the winter.
