I know I say I love products a lot around here, but this is more like that soul-mate love… That I-can’t-go-a-day-without-you-and-never-want-to-be-without-you love. I honestly don’t believe I’ve ever felt this way about any other beauty product. I’ll stop there, as I’m beginning to sound like a lost track from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, but I’m sure you get my drift, lol. I’ve been using the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops almost every single day for the past six weeks, and it’s been an absolute game changer for me. Cover FX Custom Cover Drops are concentrated pigment drops that use flash fusion technology, so as soon as they’re mixed with another product, only pure pigment is left behind, allowing you to customize your coverage. The drops are coated with lecithin, which is biochemically similar to skin and ensures seamless blending and smooth application.

Cover FX Custom Cover Drops are NOT meant to be used alone and can be mixed in with a multitude of other liquid beauty products, such as primers, moisturizers, tinted moisturizers, foundations, serums, and oils- as long as they are water-, oil- or silicone-based. You can adjust your coverage by the number of drops you add- one drop for sheer coverage, two for medium coverage, three for full coverage, and four for total coverage.

I use shade N110, which is a perfect match for my tanned summer complexion. I will most likely need to mix it with N100 come winter, when my skin is lighter. N110 has neutral undertones, and it doesn’t oxidize and make me look like an orange mess like a lot of foundations can. It’s pretty much my face but better.

For everyday wear, I’ve been mixing two or three drops with a silicon-based primer and it covers everything. It feels very light and gives my face an almost airbrushed finish. When I want the glowing-from-within look, I add two or three drops to a bronzing primer and it makes my skin look so radiant. This is my favorite way to use the drops. On the weekends, I add a single drop to my favorite tinted moisturizer to give it a tiny bit more coverage and increase the staying power. It literally looks as if I’m not wearing anything at all. It works the same way with sheer foundations- you can add a few drops to adjust the coverage to medium or full. I’ve never had to use more than three drops to achieve my desired coverage. The drops can also be used to adjust the shade of your foundation; you can use a lighter shade to lighten a foundation that’s too dark and vice versa.

Although the bottle is small, you only need the tiniest amount, so it will last a really long time. I’ve been using mine for six weeks and haven’t really put a dent in it.  The Cover FX Custom Cover Drops will now be a staple in my beauty arsenal. I don’t ever want to be without them!

  1. It’s good to hear an honest review with visible results. I’ve got a cc cream that’s a tad too dark for me & ive been thinking about trying the Cover FX drops to lighten the color & make it wearable. Plan to give these a try very soon. Thanks for posting 🙂

  2. I’ve wanted to try the Cover FX drops since forever but I had no idea how to use them and was to embarrassed to ask. LOL!! So all you do is mix it with your primer and that’s it? Do you still set your face with a powder? And can I ask what primer you use? I love the way it looks on you. I’m really going for the “my skin but better” look for work. Thanks Erica! 🙂

    1. You are very welcome. That’s exactly what you do, mix it with a primer or other liquid medium of your choice. After that, you set your face as you would with your foundation. I love to use it with Laura Mercier Radiance Bronze Primer and Smashbox Photofinish Primer. 🙂

  3. Just wanted to say that I’ve been following your blog for quite a while and you are one of the best beauty bloggers on the web. You are so beautiful and unique and I LOVE how you wear such dramatic shades of lipstick with such confidence!
