I’m usually not one for the Tyrone Biggums nude lipsticks, you know the ones that gives us brown girls the ashy lips look and have us walking around looking like we haven’t eaten for a few days… but let me tell you, I’m here for this one. It’s just something about it that I love. I’m a bright lipstick kind of girl and only wear nudes occasionally as I feel like they make me look washed out. So I only keep a few in my collection like MAC Freckletone and Wet ‘n Wild Bare It All. However, I was wearing a nude toned dress for Mothers Day and wanted to create a monotone look, so I took NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Stone for a spin.
The new NYX High Voltage Lipsticks are creamy, shiny and extremely pigmented. Stone is a pink tinged beige. In my opinion, It’s one of those nude shades that will work with any complexion. For really deep complexions it can be tweaked with a lip liner. I’m wearing it straight up. The lipstick is very creamy and goes on smooth. I think that Stone works for me because of the finish. The shine makes it very forgiving (unlike a matte light nude). The shade went with my dress (which I’ll be showing you guys next) perfectly!
This is my new favorite nude lipstick and I think I may have to wear nude lips more often. I’m going to need to try a few more of the NYX High Voltage Lipsticks as the formula is amazing, it feels so good on the lips. Only negative is it doesn’t have great staying power and has to be touched up often. Since I love everything else about this lipstick I can deal with that. I’m going to try a primer and see if that makes it wear longer.
