Yeah yeah, I know you guys are probably thinking that these are old news but I’m posting about them anyway lol. I’ve been on somewhat of a lippie ban, not buying anything new since my collection is quite ridiculous. I decided that I would allow myself to get a few new lippies from brands that I haven’t tried at The Makeup Show, so I added L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint to my list. I also purged my stash of a bunch of lippies this past weekend to give to my mom and sisters so I guess I have room for a few more now ha 🙂

The L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints are intensely pigmented liquid lip colors that give the appearance of a lipstick with the glossy finish of a lipgloss. They cool and nourish your lips with Vitamin E and peppermint oil. The collection includes 18 shades and I picked up Coy and Hot Mess.

The squeeze tube applicator sucks at applying the lip paint and it ends up all around your lips. For best application I highly suggest the use of a lip brush. It’s more precise.

Coy (bright blue based purple), Hot Mess (bright coral)

The lip paints have great pigmentation but need to be built up, a single swipe just won’t do. I found that Coy has better pigmentation, two light coats and I’m good to go. Hot Mess on the other hand requires some heavy layering to get good pigmentation or it just looks patchy. They feel really good on the lips, the peppermint oil gives a tingling sensation upon application and the lip paint feels moisturizing, not dry at all. They wear for at least 4 hours before needing a touch up, even through a light meal and drink. As it fades it leaves a slight stain, nothing that lingers though. Here is how they look on…

I love both shades but I’m a sucka for purples so Coy is my fave, it’s da bomb. I’m impressed with the glazed lip paints overall… they have great pigmentation, feel and looks nice on the lips and wears well. Everything that they claim to do. Now if you’re wondering if these are anything like OCC Lip Tars, they are very VERY similar, all the way down to the consistency and scent. The difference is that OCC Lip Tars have better pigmentation with a single swipe and wear a little longer. They also cost 4x plus more than the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints so who’s complaining?! Right. I own a bunch of the OCC Lip Tars and I have to say that you will get the same look using the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints at a fraction of the cost, so go on ahead and get you some!

Available at Drugstore $3.49; Ricky’s NYC $4; also check your local Beauty Supply Store

  1. I love these. I have the Coy one and red. Can’t recall the exact name lol. But I like them. I got them at my local beauty supply! I’m a sucker for purples too.
