The first of it’s kind, the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette is especially designed to contour and enhance the eyes. The palette allows you to create your ideal eye shape for the ultimate definition. It features twelve matte shades in 3 color quads- neutral, cool and warm to compliment every skintone. I was glad when I saw that this palette was in my goodie bag from The Makeup Show NYC Blogger Preview as I’ve been eyeing it.
Each quad contains a base, contour, define and highlight shade. The palette comes with an instructional to show how to use the palette to define or lift eyes to create a natural or smokey look, and to balance eyes to widen or narrow.
Neutral Quad
Laetus (base), Samael (contour), Solas (define), Lucius (highlight)
Cool Quad
Lazarus (base), Saleos (contour), Shax (define), Liberatus (highlight)
Warm Quad
Ludwin (base), Succubus (contour), Sytry (define), Latinus (highlight)
All of the eyeshadows are extremely pigmented and apply buttery smooth. They are a little powdery in the pan but I didn’t experience any fall out. I have to admit that these are some of the best matte eyeshadows that I’ve tried to date. They stay put all day with an eyeshadow primer and a cream base. Here is an eye look that I created using the Neutral Quad and the instructions to define eyes to create a natural look. I used Urban Decay Primer Potion and Milani Shadow Eyez in Cafe Au Lait to prep before applying the eyeshadows.
Loved this look. A natural eye has been my go to look lately so I’m sure that I will be grabbing this palette a lot.
I used the Shade + Light Contour Brush, a two sided brush designed to contour the eyes with a tapered end for contouring and a domed end for highlighting and blending. It picked up the perfect amount of product and did exactly what it was supposed to do.
The shades in the Kat Von D Shade + Light Palette compliment each other well and will also compliment other neutral shades and palettes. Pair it with any of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes and you’ll have the dynamic nude eye duo. The shades will also compliment color eyeshadows. This palette is a must have for enthusiasts and artists alike, it’s perfect to add to your makeup artist kit!
The Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette ($46) and Shade + Light Eye Contour Brush ($29) are both available exclusively at Sephora.
