YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Review

I'm not an expensive mascara kind of girl. However, I was excited to try the YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils aka the False Lash Effect Mascara.

I’m not an expensive mascara kind of girl. Hell, these days I’m not an expensive makeup kind of girl period. I usually use pro discounts or sales to buy the more expensive brands and stick to the drugstore stuff. I can find a million other things to spend my hard earned money on… like shoes lol. Anyway I was excited to receive the YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils or False Lash Effect Mascara from Influenster to review as it’s something that I most likely would not have purchased myself.

YSL has reformulated the False Lash Effect Mascara making it all about Lash Care with a Triple Intensity Formula: intense volume, intense color and intense lash care. The nylon fiber brush coats each lash in deep color and maximum volume from root to tip, while B5 Pro-Vitamin strengthens and protects lashes.

The tube is absolutely gorgeous and looks so classy and chic. I wish I could re-purpose it when I’m done with the mascara as I hate to have to throw it away.

The brush is the perfect size to catch my barely there lashes without getting mascara all over my lids and under my eyes, but since the bristles are so close it does cause some clumping. The mascara is indeed a very intense black. Here it is in action…

It’s not a miracle worker for me and I didn’t expect it to be as no mascara is for my almost non-existent lashes. It does do what it claims and gives my lashes some volume while adding intense color, and it stays put all day without flaking or giving me raccoon eyes. I love the fact that it has vitamin B5 included as maybe it will give my itty bitty lashes a boost. Although I really like this mascara I still wouldn’t purchase it (unless it was extremely discounted) as I can find a mascara in the drugstore to give me the same results at a third of the cost.

  1. Ecckks! I love mascara but $32 is too much coinage! Lol! I’ve been ordering from nordstroms a lot lately & have been getting the free mini Mac false lashes mascara and this past week got a Dior mascara as well. That’ll do me just fine lol! The YSL does come in a gorgeous tube.

  2. Tip: Nordstoms have a mascara sale, buy 2 get 1 free. They do this twice a year. I normally call my local Nordstroms to get the dates.
