Summer 2014 Beauty Faves

This is the first year in a long time that I've had to change my beauty routine for Summer. These Summer Beauty Faves have been in heavy rotation.

favorite summer beauty products

Usually I don’t have to change up my beauty routine too much for Summer but this year my skin has really been acting out. My face has been super oily to the point that my makeup has been melting off, but extremely dry after cleansing with breakouts on top of it. The pores on my nose and chin has been clogged and more visible than usual as well. I’ve never experienced these skin issues before so I didn’t know what to do. I’ve been trying a few new skincare products to attempt to get my skin under control and found a few new favorites in the process. The rest of the products is stuff that I’ve tried and loved enough to add to my regular line up.  All of these goodies have been in heavy rotation all Summer Long.

Mario Badescu Summer Shine Body Lotion

This lightweight moisturizer is enriched with Vitamin A, Beeswax and Peanut Oil to naturally moisturize skin without leaving it greasy and it’s loaded with shimmer to give the skin a radiant glow. Perfect for those Summer crop tops, mini skirts and short shorts!

SheaMoisture Tea Tree After Shave & Bump Preventer

This product is from the SheaMoisture men line up. My boyfriend is a huge fan of these products and when I saw this in his stash I just had to give it a try. It contains Shea Butter, Tea Tree Oil and Aloe to soothe and promote the healing of minor nicks and cuts while calming razor burn. I like to use this on my bikini area as it soothes without burning and really keeps the razor bumps under control. The citrus scent is delicious as well. Ladies don’t be afraid to try this just because it’s labeled for men, I actually use it more than my guy.

Alba Botanica Pore Purifying Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser

I tried this on a whim as I was at my wits end with my skin.  When I saw this face wash and read the label I gladly gave it a try. It’s 100% Vegetarian and Hypo-allergenic with no artificial colors, Parabens, Phthalates, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Myreth Sulfate. Papaya and pineapple enzymes gently clear out impurities from the pores while buffing away dead cells to reveal radiant skin while Vitamin E, aloe and Jojoba soothes and moisturizes. My face loves this stuff. I’ve been using it along with my Clarisonic Mia and the breakouts are disappearing, my skin appears brighter and the oil is somewhat under better control.

Mixed Chicks Hair Silk

This gloss and shine hair silk keeps my hair from frizzing in the humidity while controlling fly-aways and keeping it shiny. It’s a godsend after an intense workout when my roots are thick and my hair seems unmanageable. I apply a generous amount after wrapping and tie my hair up and in the morning my hair is as good as new.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Makes my barely there lashes thick and full without clumping or flaking into my eyes. I’m not a big fan of fake lashes except for special occasions or when I’m heading out out so this mascara is a great substitute. Think I’m going to need to invest in a full size tube when I finish up the rest of the mascaras I have laying around.

Vitivia Pro Vitamin A15

These little capsules contains pure Vitamin A (Retinol 0.15%) in a silicone base. Vitamin A refines pores, smooths fine lines and reveals more youthful looking skin by assisting in the regeneration of healthy skin cells and maintaining the presence of collagen. It also normalizes the activity of the sebaceous glands. This serum applied at night has been helping to keep my oil under control while clearing my breakouts faster. It also has been minimizing the size and appearance of my pores, especially on my nose which has been a problem area this Summer. I also have a few samples of the Vitamin C capsules and those have been helping to fade my dark spots and brightening my skin. It’s also great for soothing bug bites.

Ashunta Sheriff Dual Foundation Brush

This brush makes it easy to do my makeup quick on those days when I’m running late and need to rush. The foundation end works well with my liquid foundation as well as tinted moisturizers. The concealer end blends under eye concealer really well especially in the hard to reach places and makes highlighting my nose easy.

Eve Pearl Invisible Finish Powderless Powder

This little compact is a staple in my makeup bag. It applies silky like a silicone serum yet it’s not greasy, and dries down to a powder finish. A single sweep will smooth rough texture, mattify, absorb oil and blur enlarged pores and also evens out skin tone all while allowing skin to breath. Astaxanthin provides nutrients and powerful antioxidants. It can be applied before foundation like a primer or over foundation to touch up. The universal shade goes on clear and will not change the color of your makeup. As soon as I see oil rising in my t-zone I dab this on and my makeup looks better than new. It really gives a flawless finish.
