I just had such an amazing lunch that I had to come and tell you guys all about it. I had never heard of Dig Inn Seasonal Market until one opened near my workplace a few months ago. I’ve walked by a few times and was almost lured in by the delicious aroma floating out of the doors but always kept it moving. See, I rarely buy lunch and bring my own most days. On the days that I don’t bring my own I have a few faves that I stick to for a quick and inexpensive lunch fix. A lot of times the healthy factor just goes out of the window but not today.
Dig Inn Seasonal Market is a farm-to-counter restaurant chain that sources their food locally with seasonal items. Everything is fresh and prepared at the restaurant. Most restaurants of this nature charge an exorbitant amount for fresh locally sourced food but not at Dig Inn. A small plate will run you less than $10 and you’ll have it in just a few minutes.
The ordering process is very Chipotle-esque. For the market plate you choose a size, pick a grain- either brown rice or bulgar and then a protein along with two sides. There’s also salads and sandwiches on the menu along with fresh juice and iced tea. I chose the brown rice with wild salmon, sauteed kale and roasted sweet potatoes which ran me $9.50 for a small plate. It’s not exactly cheap but inexpensive as a quality substitute for a home cooked meal. Everything was delicious and well seasoned, especially the kale. I need the recipe to replicate it at home.
Anyway, I can’t wait to try more items off of the menu and will in due time as this is now my favorite place for days when I’m naughty and don’t bring my own lunch. Healthy fast food? Yes, I can dig it and Dig Inn! ha ha
Dig Inn currently has 8 locations in NYC. Visit diginn.com to find one near you.
