The Ultimate Trunk Show is an annual shopping event that serves as a platform for emerging designers and boutiques from all over the country to showcase their styles to guests. Founder Latoya Gordon started the event as an intimate shopping party in her Brooklyn apartment and within three years it gained popularity and grew into a full scale exhibitor showcase. Visit The Ultimate Trunk Show for more information. I received an invite to attend as Press and I gladly RSVP’d as I was interested in the experience. This year’s showcase was held on Saturday at the Altman Building in Chelsea so I put on something cute and dragged my cousin Jade along with me. Alongside the vendors were a few DJ’s. Complimentary drinks from Hennessy and Rekorderlig Cider as well as a coffee bar courtesy of Keurig. A Beauty Suite curated by belleIEVE Beauty. A Summer Style Bar by Mixed Chicks. Haircuts and shave demos by Groomsmen and Every Man Jack. Back massages by Finger Lakes School of Massage. And a Complimentary Nail Bar by 25th & June. There were also hors d’oeuvres going around which were gone in a blink of an eye, and gift bags. Check out the slideshow below to see some of the boutiques that were present, along with the goodies that they had up for grabs.
I noticed that there were a lot of Instagram Boutiques present which was great for exposure. I only purchased one thing, a metallic faux leather pencil skirt from Arryles which is currently only on Instagram. But her site is coming soon. My cousin Jade also purchased a skirt from Arryles, a super cute clutch from Lily & Eve and a fly jumpsuit from House of VS. Other than that, we enjoyed the drinks, music and chill atmosphere. I wanted to get my nails done at the 25th & June Nail Bar but it was all booked up. I can see why as the designs were dope. Overall it was a nice experience.
We were starving when we left The Ultimate Trunk Show. So we hit up one of my favorite restaurants in the area- Cafeteria. Jade and I ordered the Cheddar and Fontina Mac n’ Cheese. The mac is one of the most popular items at Cafeteria and I had never tried it. But I wasn’t missing anything as it’s nothing to write home about. It was just meh.
We split an order of Calamari and it was deelish with the sweet peppers mixed in. I also had the fish tacos which is one of my favorite items on the menu.
And Jade had the turkey burger which she enjoyed.
We sat outside and chit chatted so long that when we looked up we were the only ones left outside and the indoor dividers had been pulled down lol. It was nice that the staff at Cafeteria continued to refill our water and just let us be.
Here is a closer look at my outfit…
