I was sent over the July and September boxes for review.

From The Lab Subscription Beauty Box

The July box contained a face cream and an eye cream both formulated to protect the skin from the effects of heavy metals and environmental toxins. I’ve been testing both products off and on for the last two months.

The 24 Hour Face Cream No. 578  contains tomato stem cell cultures which binds heavy metals to protect skin from pollution and free radicals, antioxidant benefits alleviates the appearance of premature aging caused by free radicals and heavy metal stress and stimulates collagen production. Moringa seeds which has purifying properties and protects your skin from environmental aggressors and heavy metal micro-particles. Para Rhatany Root contributes anti-inflammatory properties and acts as a free radical scavenger, minimizing the appearance of premature aging. Provitamin B5 contributes anti-inflammatory protection and restores and maintains moisture in the skin. Vitamin E imparts antioxidant properties to tone skin, moisturizes and prohibits environmental damage. Shea Butter moisturizes, smoothes and softens skin. The cream inhibits loss of elasticity and restores suppleness, smoothness, and flexibility to the skin through improved hydration.

I’ve been using this cream as a night time moisturizer after washing my face. It is rich and creamy but melts right into the skin leaving it thoroughly moisturized. In the morning I wake up with glowing skin that feels just as moisturized as it did when I laid down. I can’t vouch for the 24 hour hydration though as I wash my face in the morning and apply something lighter for during the day as I have oily/combo skin. I can’t speak of the anti-aging properties but I did not notice any improvement in skin tone, however my face does feel a lot smoother and the skin more supple.

The Eye Cream No. 579 cools and refreshes the delicate skin around your eyes, while its antioxidant-rich formula detoxifies your skin and delivers significant anti-aging benefits. It also contains tomato stem cells along with Ginseng and Gynostemma which protect and nourish dry skin by improving circulation, facilitates the removal of toxins from skin and reduces puffiness and alleviates under-eye bags. Caffeine which imparts detoxifying properties and also reduces puffiness. Japanese Pagoda Flower Extract provides antioxidant and free radical scavenging properties, imparts anti-aging benefits and minimizes environmental damage to skin.

Bamboo Extract tones, cools, and strengthens skin. Rice and Pomegranate Extracts work together in a synergistic blend to moisturize skin and counteract damage from free radicals; delivers nutrients to protect skin and minimize stress and boosts collagen production. Aloe Vera Extract and Sodium Hyaluronate to soothe and moisturize skin. Vitamin B3 strengthens and protects skin, keeps skin hydrated and stimulates collagen production and promotes even skin tone. Shea Butter moisturizes, softens and smooths.

This is my favorite product of the two. The skin under my eyes gets very dry probably from the consistent use of concealer there and sometimes it makes me look older when combined with my under eye circles. This eye cream sinks in well leaving the area very moisturized and it really does reduce my puffiness. I apply it under my eyes before I go to bed and in the morning before I do my makeup. I was really impressed with the products in the July Box and felt that they were worth the cost of the subscription as a good eye cream alone can run you well over 20 bucks.

The September box contained just one product, a hair cream.

The Hair Mask No. 718 nourishes your scalp with a powerful anti-aging complex and is formulated with a rare Swiss apple, Uttwiler Spätlauber which is known for it’s longevity and resilience combined with a biomimetic peptide and customized polymers to provide enhanced anti-aging skin care benefits directly to the scalp. It provides focused conditioning, glide, and improved combatability to both wet and dry hair without depositing the build-up that can weigh down your locks. It also contains provitamin B5 which provides long-lasting hydration, shine, and flexibility to improve the condition and feel of damaged hair while thickening and reducing the formation of split ends. Creatine imparts volume and smoothness while protecting hair from the mechanical damage that can result from combing. Silicones provide long-lasting conditioning without accumulated build-up. Avocado, Jojoba, Argan, and Brazilian Nut Oils nourish and moisturize hair to improve softness and feel. Hair Mask No. 718 is sulfate-free.

I tried out the hair mask last time I washed my hair. Per the directions I generously applied it to my dry hair and let it sit for 15 minutes. It took about a half tube to cover my hair. I used a plastic cap for extra benefits. I then shampooed and conditioned my hair as usual. My hair was left super soft and full of body. It did not leave any residue on my hair and did not weigh it down at all. Although I was impressed with the product I do not believe it was worth $20 and definitely not $30, I don’t care what kind of rare apple it has in it.

I’m on the fence with From The Lab as the products are pretty great but also kind of pricey. This is probably because I am not used to spending a lot on skincare products and do just fine with all natural stuff and/or drug store lines. I swear by Oil of Olay. I sometimes use higher end products on my hair like Mizani but always purchased at a discount. I can’t see myself paying $30 for a hair treatment but $20 for a moisturizer and eye cream is reasonable. If you are one who kicks out a lot of cash on expensive skin care and beauty products without flinching then this is probably for you as you’ll consider the price a good discount.  Learn more about From The Lab and request an invitation to sign up at fromthelab.com.
