I purchased MAC Pro Longwear Concealer for the first time a little over a year ago for the sole purpose of concealing my dreaded under-eye circles and fell in love. I’ve tried a few different concealers since then and always come back to my tried and true, it’s definitely my favorite!
It comes in a small glass jar with a pump making it easy to dispense the perfect amount (but don’t press too hard or you will get too much.) To brighten under the eyes you should use a concealer 1 or 2 shades lighter than your foundation. Pro Longwear in NW40 is the perfect shade for me.
The lightweight liquid blends well and can be built up to medium and even full coverage. It dries down to a long lasting matte finish that doesn’t crease or budge all day when set with a powder. To use I pump a small amount onto the back of my hand or a metal palette. After applying my primer I use my fingertips to apply the concealer under my eyes in the shape of a triangle…
I let it dry for about 30 seconds and then use my fingertips and or a blending brush to blend it out. When applying my foundation I buff out any hard edges and blend some more.
I set under the eye with my Ben Nye Banana Powder and the rest of the face with my Ben Nye Neutral Set and I am good to go all day. No more raccoon eyes for me!
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer retails at $18 and can be purchased at maccosmetics.com or at a MAC Counter near you.

This looks great! Did you use the pro longwear concealer for your brows too?
Thank you. No, I like a firmer concealer for my brows and use MAC Studiofinish. That post is coming soon 🙂
Thanks for the tip. I’ve never tried concealer before and I do have dark circles under my eyes. I might give this product a try.
No problem problem at all
I find that a lot of undereye setting powders set into my fine lines (even though I’m only 24) and dry my skin out. Does the Banana powder do that?
Thanks!
Maddy
I find that this happens when my under eye area is dry to begin with and if I keep it moisturized well I don’t have any problems. So it doesn’t matter the type of powder.
Its funny that I ran into this post on news feed as My MAC concealer id just sitting on my Desk as I am contemplating giving it away because I never really used it. But I will be trying this out soon.
Definitely for it a try, it’s a great concealer!
Thanks for sharing this. I have crazy under eye circles, that I typically conceal with glasses. But occasionally I do like to use contacts for special occasions. I’m really in need of something, so I’ll have to check this out.
Pink 🙂
No problem at all 🙂
I’ve been really wanting to try this because I love MAC Studio Finish concealer but it can crease and move a lot under the eye.
You’re right, it creases badly if you apply too much and also can dry out the under eye area. I like Studiofinish for my brows and spot concealing.
An amazing product. I think one of the best concealer available in market.
Dear Erica,
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I am actually new with makeup. But I just learnt that I am also NW 45. That’s the Mac foundation that I use. However, I would also like to use a concealer. So I wanted to ask if I could NW40 concealer not only on the under eye, but also on the whole face. Can that look good? I haven’t bought it yet. Bit would like your advice.
Thank you!
You’re welcome. If you’re NW45, NW40 concealer will be too light to use all over the face.
Thank you so much! So what Concealer number would you advice me to use all over the face before applying NW 45 Foundation. To hide some of the few pimples I have?
You should use concealer in the same shade as your foundation.
