A few months ago while in Target I ran across the Ambi Even & Clear Line. I had wanted to try some of the products for a while since the brand is aimed toward African American skin and this particular line targets acne and dark spots, but I had a hard time finding the line in stores so I quit. At that time I had experienced an allergic reaction to something on the left side of my cheekbone and had scratched the breakout which left dark marks. I was in desperate need to fade the marks so I didn’t hesitate to buy some products from the Ambi Even & Clear line when I found them. I picked up the Foaming Cleanser, Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 and Tone Correcting Concentrate.
The Even & Clear Foaming Cleanser is supposed to help clear breakouts and visibly reduce the appearance of dark marks left behind. The hypoallergenic, oil free formula is gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin. The cleanser foams up well and leaves the skin feeling very clean without leaving any residue and that’s about it. I used this twice a day, morning and night with my Clarisonic Mia and it didn’t fade anything. It also has a very strong perfume like scent.
The Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 is supposed to even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of discolorations. The lightweight, oil-free formula contains EvenBlend which is natural soy and Vitamins C & E. Now this moisturizer is lightweight enough and very moisturizing. The SPF 30 is a great addition as sunscreen is important. I used this lotion once a day, in the morning after washing with the foam cleanser. And I did not see any results. It also has a strong scent similar to that of the cleanser.
The Even & Clear Tone Correcting Concentrate is a full face treatment with Retinol Technology that is gentle enough to be used everyday. Like the rest of the products in the Even & Clear line, it is supposed to improve the look of discoloration and even out skin tone. The serum boasts that it smooths out roughness, improves the appearance of discolorations and restores skins natural radiance. I used this at night after using the Foaming Cleanser. It did leave my skin feeling nice and smooth, and I woke up glowing the next morning. But it still didn’t do anything for the dark spots. Also the fragrance is so strong that some nights I couldn’t bring myself to use it as it gave me a headache. So I am still up in the air on this one as I wasn’t as consistent with use as I was with the Foaming Cleanser and Daily Moisturizer.
I used this combination from the Ambi Even & Clear Line pretty much daily for about two months (with the exception of the Tone Correcting Concentrate) and saw no results. Yes my skin was extra clean and moisturized. But the dark spots that it was supposed to help go away were still there and just as visible as when I started. I even developed some new breakouts which lingered and took it’s time going away. I finally decided to throw in the towel and start a new skincare routine. And within 3 weeks my skin did a 360. Stay tuned to see my current skincare routine and when it comes down to Ambi Even & Clear, don’t fall for the hype!!!

I agree, I was upset and threw it away. Im looking to try garnier products.
I just have it sitting in the bathroom for guest to use if they don’t have anything else. I hate to throw away “money” 🙁
Ambi has never worked for me either. It’s really ineffective. Hydroquinone has never did anything for my skin.
It sucks. I was really hoping that it would work.
I have tried several Ambi products – none of them have ever worked. I haven’t tried these specific products, but I had vowed then not to use anything else from this line again. It irritates me how these products are supposedly made for black skin but they never work.
Seriously. I’ve learned my lesson though, they won’t be getting anymore of my precious funds
Wow! Ambi has never worked for me either, it’s a shame though since they’re geared toward “us” too
Yeah a whole bunch of BS *side eye to Ambi*
This didn’t work for me either! When I started washing with a shea butter wash my marks went away super quick! I look forward to hearing about the regimen that did work.
The post will be up in the am hon… And the regimen includes shea butter 😉
yay looking to here about your regimen! I just started my own too because my face has been breaking out too much for liking smh….I tried Ambi a long time ago and i agree it did absolutely nothing for me smh
Seems like this is the consensus! lol
GIrl, I thought I was the only one. I tried AMbi product years ago for even skin tone and felt like they did not work. WHat I noticed was that your skin looked worse before it got better.
For now, I am a Neutrogena girl.
Ambi did nothing for my skin. What do you all recommend I use to help fade dark spots and even skin tone
African Black Soap!
