e.l.f. HD Blush in Showstopper is Truly a Showstopper

The NYC e.l.f. studio store is too cute. It's easy to go crazy since everything is under $5. But I just snagged a few things including this e.l.f HD Blush.

e.l.f. HD Blush in Showstopper

I finally had the chance to stop in the new e.l.f. studio store that opened up about a month ago here in NYC and it is too cute. It is great to have the entire product line right at your fingertips. With mostly everything being under $5 it’s easy to go crazy in there but I just snagged a few things an HD Blush, Lip Exfoliator and a Lip Lock Pencil. I will review the other items later but this post is all about the HD Blush in Showstopper. elf HD Blush is a liquid blush infused with Vitamin E to moisturize skin and give a radiant glow. It’s supposed to naturally sculpt and highlight the cheekbones for a soft focus effect.

The blush comes in the tiniest tube about the height of a tube of lipstick and width about the size of a quarter. It has a pump dispenser on it making it easy to disperse the product. Don’t let the little tube fool you as just a tiny amount packs a big punch so you have to press the pump gently in order to not get out too much. The formula is lightweight and extremely pigmented. You have to be careful when applying as you can easily apply too much.

e.l.f. HD Blush in Showstopper Swatch

Showstopper is a deep reddish purple with a slight sheen. This shade will work best for darker skintones because of the extremely rich pigmentation, if you are lighter you have to be extra extra careful. The first time that I used the blush I applied a small amount to a metal palette and put a tiny amount on my stippling brush and dabbed it on my cheek. I went to blend it out with my flat top kabuki and ended up with a bright smear like the first swatch on my cheeks and had to blend it out to the gods lol. It all worked out in the end but next time I will dab it on and blend with my fingertips and then buff it out with a flat top kabuki. I think this is the easiest way to control application and avoid looking like a clown.  Here is Showstopper on the cheeks…

I’m wearing MAC Lipstick in Impassioned

It’s such a pretty shade and gives the skin a nice radiant glow. It is very long lasting and stays on all day applied over primer, foundation and setting powder. It was just as vibrant when I went to remove it as it was when I washed my face. I will be trying a few more of these and for $3 a pop you can’t lose.

  1. That blush is gorgeous on you and that purple liner/shadow on your waterline is giving me life!! Super pretty look, Erica!

  2. How gorgeous is your makeup??? Loving the eyeliner especially. And I’ll be trying your buffing tip to apply my liquid blushes as they always end up looking too harsh!

Weirdly, I own this one as well! ELF were doing a big sale and I picked two up. I like the wear time on Showstopper – Superstar, not so much!

    1. Thank you so much hon. This was my first time really using a liquid blush and I was like woah lol. Really takes a good method to avoid looking clownish

  3. Here in France we don’t have stores but a website and I don’t know if you have ever tried their naillacquer but there are nice!

  4. I know this post is about the blush, and it does look stunning on you btw, but I’m head over heels in love with that purple liner!
