The Milani Eyeshadow Primer Is Great. For Short Term Wear.

The Milani Eyeshadow Primer claims to intensify and extend the wear of any eyeshadow while minimizing creasing for over 8 hours. Let's take a closer look.

Milani Eyeshadow Primer

Using a primer under your eyeshadow is an absolute must to achieve the greatest pigmentation and longevity of wear. Especially if you have oily lids like mine. If I don’t use a primer my eyeshadow will crease and fade within an hour. Milani Eyeshadow Primer claims to intensify and extend the wear of any eyeshadow while minimizing creasing for over 8 hours. Let’s take a closer look.

The primer comes in a squeeze tube similar to the likes of Urban Decay Primer Potion making it really easy to dispense. A pea sized amount is more than enough to cover both eyelids.

The primer is lightweight but thick in consistency. It spreads easily and dries down to an invisible finish making it perfect for use on any skin tone.

It really does intensify the color of eyeshadow. On the left is my Inglot Eyeshadow in 361 Matte applied directly to the skin and on the right I applied it over  the Milani Eyeshadow Primer. The color looks more rich. Now onto wear. I applied the primer at about 7:30 am and created this look with my Urban Decay Naked Palette, just a simple smokey eye…

By 11 am the colors had already began to fade and slightly crease. By the time I left work at 5 pm my eyeshadow was barely visible. When I arrived home at 6:30 pm this is what my eyeshadow looked like…

It was almost completely gone and badly creased. I am aware that this was well over 8 hours but when I use my favorite eyeshadow primer Urban Decay Primer Potion, my eyeshadow lasts all day and looks exactly as it did when I get home as it had when I left for work, just slightly faded. Now keep in mind that I do have oily lids and if you have dry lids the Milani Eyeshadow Primer may last longer on you. If you have oily lids don’t expect this primer to last all day. Maybe for a few hours to head out for a night. That’s about it.

The Milani Eyeshadow Primer retails for $6.49 which is not bad at all and may be purchased at your local retailer that carries Milani Cosmetics or at www.milanicosmetics.com.

  1. Great review. I’m glad you posted before and after pics. I read a review about this last week on another blog… totally different perspective.

I’ll pass on this. Have you tried Stila’s prime pot? I love it!

    1. Thank you. Yeah, I’ve been seeing a bunch of reviews saying that its really good and lasts all day. Could just be my oily lids but that’s not how it worked out for me.

  2. Thanks for the review! I had seen several people talking about trying this out, but I hadn’t seen many reviews on it. I will stick to what I know for now…Too Faced!
