Covergirl was my very first love. From my junior year in high school through college I wore the Clean Pressed Powder in Toasted Almond until it was discontinued. I also had a fling with the Clean Liquid Foundation during that time. I then fell in love with the TruBlend Minerals Pressed Powder in Soft Sable until that was discontinued and I moved on to MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. I dumped Covergirl because they stopped catering to my skintone. I was excited when the Queen Collection came out but unfortunately the products are extremely hard to find in NYC and when I do find a display it is empty. Sold out. Fast forward to today, I was elated to hear about the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation and it’s sister in the Queen Collection All Day Flawless Foundation and I’ve been looking for them for weeks to no avail. This past weekend I visited my mom upstate New York and spotted the Stay Fabulous Foundation in Walmart, there was one left in the shade Soft Sable which happens to be the darkest shade. I assumed since Soft Sable worked for me in the past that it would work this time around and I was right because it’s spot on!
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation fuses the lasting power of a primer, coverage of a concealer and blendability of a foundation all in one to give the face a flawless finish that lasts all day. It has an SPF of 20 and contains ensulizole sunscreen which is a water soluble UVB protecting agent which also protects the skin from UVA rays but not as well unless used along with another agent such as Titanium Dioxide, which this foundation also has. As with all foundations that contain sunscreen you have to be careful when using flash photography as it sometimes gives the skin a grey cast. The foundation is housed in a glass container with a lockable pump and cap.
Soft Sable looks very cool in the bottle with a slight grey tone, but when pumped out it is more of a neutral shade that matches my NW45 skin perfectly. If you are darker than a NW47 in MAC this foundation will not work for you as Soft Sable is the darkest shade, but no worries you should be able to find your shade in the Queen Collection All Day Flawless Foundation. The foundation is very light, blends into the skin well and dries down quickly to a matte, slightly powdery finish. It provides medium to full coverage and takesย 2-3 pumps to cover the entire face depending on the coverage that you want. I pump it onto a metal palette and buff it into my face with my Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush. You may also use a stippling brush, a sponge or simply your fingers. Here is how the foundation looks on…
It gives a very matte, flawless finish to the skin. An almost airbrushed look. A little boy in church said that I looked “fake” lol, that’s how flawless the finish is. I moisturized my skin and used a primer and setting powder along with the foundation as I am so used to the routine but you don’t need a primer or a setting powder as it still holds up all day without them, however you absolutely must moisturize your skin good as the foundation is very drying. I have oily/combination skin and the foundation left my skin completely matte all day with no signs of oil peeping through. If you have very dry skin this foundation is not for you as it will enhance the dryness. It is important to exfoliate any dry patches and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize prior to applying Outlast Stay Fabulous. Here is how the foundation looked 13 hours later with no blotting or touching up. It simply went from a very matte to a demi-matte look over the course of the day …
I went to church, out to dinner and slept on a bus for 3 hours heading home and my face was still flawless. I left it on for another two hours while I edited pics and it looked the same when I went to wash my face. This foundation is simply the bomb! I received compliments from women and men all day telling my how beautiful and flawless my makeup looked. I’ve only been using it for a few days and haven’t experienced any breakouts or such, if I do I will update this post.
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation retails between $9.49 and $14.99, I found it at Walmart for $9.49. You can also check Target, Ulta, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Duane Reade or a drugstore near you that carries the brand. It is also available on drugstore.com. I am going to have to ask my Mom to grab me a few more bottles just in case Covergirl decides to discontinue on me again *side eye to Covergirl if you’re reading this*
Update: I found the CoverGirl Queen All Day Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation, you can see my review here.

I will definitely be trying this! I’m NW45 too so it should work perfectly. I’ve stopped wearing foundation daily, so I don’t really want to spend a ton of money on my next foundation.
I hear you. Let me know how it works out.
Just wondering, what primer and moisturizer did you use under the foundation. I am very oily and have such a hard time staying matte throughout the day. I cannot wait until I purchase this foundation (in April because Im on a month long no makeup purchase fast *tears*)
I used Black Radiance Complexion Perfection Shine Control Primer and Ben Nye Neutral Set Setting Powder, my faves!
I am not a regular foundation wearer but THIS STUFF RIGHT HERE!!!! …THE BOMB!!!!…You need nothing else. And it leaves you looking so natural. I too pray CoverGirl dosent dicontinue or change the formula at some point. I would be heartbroken. Lol…They outdid themselves with this one!!!
Couldn’t have said it better! Lol
As we embark on the warmer season of the year, I am looking for a good foundation that will not run when the heat is on. I currently use Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam pared with the Dream Fresh BB Cream. I LOVE them both but the air foam runs BAD, when I sweat. Maybe I just need to put something on top of it to keep it from running. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
I love the Dream Nude Airfoam as well, it works best and stays well when used with a primer and setting powder. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the info, I use neither a primer or a press powder so Ill look into some good ones for my skin type. Thank!
No problem ๐
UGH! I want to try this in the Queen Collection, but I can’t find it anywhere. It looks great on you! Thanks for the review. I have never heard so much praise about one product before!
Thank you. I haven’t been able to find the Queen Collection one either. I may have to suck it up and just order online
Totally agree, I love this foundation!!
This looks really good one you! I saw you just did a review recently on the Revlon Nearly Naked also. How would this compare to that? Ive been eyeing them both in the store, but since you have tried them both I would like your opinion.
Thank you! Revlon Nearly Naked has slightly less coverage and has more of a dewy finish. You definitely need to wear a primer and set it well or oil will seep through. The CG Outlast Stay Fabulous covers a little better but the biggest difference is the finish, it is completely matte and stays that way. It controls oil very well. It is also a little thicker in consistency than Nearly Naked. Hope that helps.
It did! Thank you sooo much!
No problem!
sounds great,i wanna try and u look so flawless&gorgeous hun!
Thx Sher hon!
I want this! You are so the brown girl foundation pusher! LOL
Lol @ the brown girl foundation pusher. Hilarious!
I didn’t see it listed anywhere, but what is that lipstick that you are wearing? I’m getting visions of Candy Yum Yum or one of those Maybelline Colorsensational Vivid lipsticks. I’ve decided that a bold lip will be the star of my spring makeup pallette and we are similar in coloring.
You hit on the money, it’s Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Hot Plum
Too bad I can’t find this brand here in Spain…BTW, you’re soooo pretty, your blog is very inspiring to me, there are not so many beauty blogs featuring makeup tutorials for black skin like mine…Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much and thank you for taking the time to comment ๐
wow, i definitely was not expecting this! it looks awesome, i’ve stopped purchasing foundations a while ago but this looks like a great addition to my collection
I have the worst luck when it comes to foundation…MAC being the worst (probably because I’ve been sold NW-45 like most black girls which is a funky red mess on me) most look either super ashy or brick red. the tawny (865) was just about spot on. the best match I’ve been able to find on my own is Stila natural finish oil free makeup in L and tawny is an almost exact match.
I never used MAC liquid f/d but they do look very orange/red. The Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation works good though and is not too orangey
**Sale Alert**…lol..Drugstore.com has it on sale Bogo 50% off PLUS an additonal $ 3.00 off…I’m TIGHT they dont have my shade (lol) but I hope some one can take advantage of this STEAL OF A DEAL!!!
Thank you so much for posting! ๐
I’m in a weird space of NC45+NW43 (sometimes I’ll wear NW43 alone though) and 865 (Tawny) works out pretty good for me.
Glad you found a shade that works. CoverGirl really needs to add some more shades for women of color!
Have you tried this with flash photography to see if it makes a grayish cast?
I have and with a phone it gives a slight ghostly cast but with my DSLR it didn’t, also depends in the angle. It’s hit or miss with flash photography with any foundation that contains SPF
Hi, Im a chocolate shade woman ๐ with yellow undertones…what are the undertones in the soft sable?..it seems red, however, i remember i stating that its pretty neutral…
It looks cool at first and then leans neutral. It works for me and I have warm undertones ๐
