Prabal Gurung For Target

I’ve been waiting super patiently for the Prabal Gurung For Target Collection to hit the shelves today. I was up until 1 am hoping it would launch online early with no such luck. When I awoke at 7:30 am the collection was up online but I decided to go on ahead and check it out in-store since I was going to be in the vicinity of a Target, and I am glad that I did. My silly self didn’t realize that Target opens at 8:30 am on Sunday so I was already late to the party *insert eye roll here* The only thing that I really wanted was the shirt dress and it was nowhere in sight and at this point sold out online as well. The Floral Crush Blazer, Date Night Sweatshirt & Floral Crush Dress (besides size 16) were also nowhere to be found. I decided to browse around anyway.

A few things caught my eye so I decided to try them on.

First let me say that the sizing is very wishy washy. The tops seem to be cut small (think Forever 21) and the dresses and skirts slightly big. The tees were slightly large in the body but just right in the sleeves. First up, the Peplum Top in Floral Crush ($29.99)…

I wanted to love it but it was a no go. It is extremely too short for my taste. For reference I am 5’5″. This is a size 8, the size 10 was still very short just a tad bit wider.

Prabal Gurung For Target Ruffle Front Blouse

The Ruffle Front Blouse ($34.99, M) was cute but very tight across the chest. I have a small bust with broad shoulders and I just wasn’t feeling the look. I didn’t love it enough to size up.

Prabal Gurung For Target Nolita Tee

The Nolita Tee ($19.99, M) is very lightweight and soft. This is a medium. I could have gone with a small but I have long arms so the sleeves would then be too short. I almost got this but put it back because it seemed like it would catch lint once washed.

Prabal Gurung For Target Floral Crush Tee

The Floral Crush Tee ($19.99, M) gave me the same feeling as the Nolita tee. It also felt very pajama-ish to me.

Prabal Gurung For Target Lace Front Blouse

The Lace Front Blouse ($34.99, M) was also very tight across the chest. I was digging it and was going to size up but the collar threw me off. It appears to be faux leather but it was just too shiny and fake looking compared to the matte fabric of the blouse. I passed.

Prabal Gurung For Target Nolita Print Pleated skirt

The Pleated Skirt in Nolita Print ($29.99) fit pretty well in an 8 but was slightly big in the waist. I didn’t care for the lace on the bottom, it felt grannyish.

Prabal Gurung For Target Date Night Dress

The Date Night Print Drop Waist Dress ($34.99, S) did absolutely nothing for me. I have a small waist with wide hips and a plump bottom lol. This was very ill fitting. It is also very thin. I did not like this piece at all.

Prabal Gurung For Target Date Night Blouse

The Date Night Blouse ($26.99, L) was also very cute but I wasn’t interested in it. I could have went with a medium if I were. Moving onto the shoes, the only ones that were in stock at my Target were the Nolita Pumps, Lace Up Sandal in Black, Red Wedge and Meet The Parents Print Sandal. All of the shoes were true to size…

Prabal Gurung For Target Nolita Pump

The Nolita Print pumps are awesome and super comfortable.

Prabal Gurung For Target Lace Up Sandal

The Lace Up Sandal was also cute but my little toe kept slipping through the side and within five minutes the straps were cutting into my foot and leaving an imprint. Very uncomfortable.

Prabal Gurung For Target Wedges

The wedges were very cute and comfortable but they just were not my style. I wanted the Sulfur Spring (neon yellow) Ankle Strap Pump but of course they weren’t there. I didn’t see any of the accessories.Β The Prabal Gurung for Target Collection lived up to the hype with some great pieces but unfortunately a lot of it just didn’t work for me fit and fabric wise. I ended up walking away with just the Nolita Print Pumps and I am content with them.

  1. Great review!
    We have similar taste, lol.
I stopped by the Target (Atlantic Center) and only wanted the shirtdress too! LOL.
    All gone!!
These ladies are no joke and I went by early as well.
Hopefully it turns up. Sometimes things come back weeks later (on sale too)….maybe we can snag it then.
If I see them, I’ll let you know πŸ™‚

  2. I was so excited about this collection. I shopped both online and in store, and was lucky because it was not crowded at my store. I also wrote a review on my blog with my thoughts and fitting room photos. I thought the shoes ran big on me, and some of the tops as well. I love the blue ruffle blouse and black lace blouse on you, those are pieces that I did not try on. Enjoy your new shoes, the print is so pretty!

  3. I was excited by the commercials for this line. I knew I probably wouldnt be able to get anything b/c I’m plus size and wear wide shoes. I was intersted in getting a couple of items for my teen daughters but they have conservative taste. They did not like the featured items. I ended up saving my money. Rhe pumps you got are beutiful. Love this post!

  4. I don’t know how but I actually stayed up until 1:45 when the items started to go live on Target’s website. I ordered the pumps (really wanted these, but nervous about the fit now!), the citron yellow skirt, and the black/first date print dress. I think I may pick up the sandals as well, granted I can locate them.

  5. Thank you so much for doing a hand-on review for this collection. The collection looks awesome and ‘must-have’ on Target’s website.

Your expression became increasingly disappointed as you tried on more pieces. I can understand that these designers, and Target, want to make the collections affordable. However, using cheap(er) fabric should not excuse the shoddy, lazy tailoring.

I’m hoping to find that peplum top with decent sewn sleeves, though.

    1. No problem at all. I hate when you see something online that looks like a great choice but in person it’s far from. Definitely try to buy it in store!

  6. I haven’t shopped it yet but your review was helpful. I will check it out but may wait to purchase once they have gone on sale.

  7. Love the pumps that you got, are they fabric or a printed faux leather? And I thought the exact same thing as you when I saw first saw those ankle strap wedges; that they weren’t really my style either, but I think they look really good on you! especially with theskinny pant you’re wearing in the photo.

    1. Thank you I just didn’t care for it, I like a high wedge or straight flat. No in betweens πŸ™‚

The pumps are fabric, silky like!

  8. so happy you tried on the blue ruffle top and the black faux leather! I was kind of leaning towards going back to try them but just didn’t LOVE them enough to do it!
I did end up with the floral crush dress and the date night shirt in store and am considering the neon yellow flats but I’m not super pressed about any of it!
love your face as the trying on continues…..priceless!

  9. Hmpf, I actually really liked the black lace front blouse, the date night print drop waist dress and the date night sleeveless blouse on you. I picked up 2 pairs of shoes – the red low wedges and the neon ankle strap sandals, the red/black dress and a pair of earrings. I haven’t worn any of them yet, ’cause I’m in Chicago and it’s too cold! I actually haven’t decided if I’m keeping everything yet. Anyway, I really enjoyed your post.

    1. Glad you enjoyed my post. If you don’t decide to keep everything you will make a killing on eBay lol. Thanks for commenting πŸ™‚
