Updated Makeup Storage, Ikea Helmer

I was running out of space in my sterilite drawer stacks and needed an upgrade. After researching for a few days, I decided on the Ikea Helmer.

If you follow my Instagram and Facebook Page you’ll know that I’ve been wanting to update my makeup storage. I was running out of space in my sterilite drawer stacks and needed an upgrade. I also wanted to move my makeup out of my bathroom because it is small and the everyday moisture is not good for makeup, it will make it go bad faster. After researching for a few days I decided on the Ikea Helmer Drawer Unit in White and my boyfriend picked it up for me and helped me put it together. I also got the Antonius Basket Inserts. I don’t really have a lot of extra space for storing makeup so the Helmer is perfect as it’s nice and compact, but don’t be fooled though… it holds a ton. I designated an area right next to my computer area where I blog which isΒ  in my living room/bedroom. I already moved everything over and oh how I love it!

I store my brushes, lip pencils etc on top. If you are wondering where all of my brushes are…

It’s wash day!

I have face products in the first drawer… Foundations, concealer, tinted moisturizers, primers, setting powders and liquid illuminators

In the first eye drawer there are brow tools, eyeliners, mascara and lashes…

In the next eye drawer I have eyeshadow bases, mac pigment samples, single eyeshadows and a few palettes

The final eye drawer contains more palettes… MAC, Sleek and a few Anastasia…

Next we have the blush, bronzer and powder highlighter drawer

I sit my MAC blush palette right on top of everything else…

Last but not least is the lip drawer…

Makeup Storage Ikea Helmer

Before I moved everything over I took out the stuff that I don’t use, need or want to give away and maybe do another blog sale. As a beauty blogger my collection tends to grow fast but after I review stuff I don’t tend to keep what I am not going to use as I just don’t have the space, and I find that it doesn’t make sense to let it sit and go bad when I have little sisters and cousins. I still have too much makeup but I’ve been on a ban for the holidays and for the new year I only plan to buy makeup if it’s something I need, something I must get to review or something for my kit. I want to try to keep a tight control on my collection as I don’t want to hoard. Keep in mind that this is my personal collection (besides eyeshadow palettes which I use in my kit as well) and not the items stored in my MUA kit. So I have more makeup *sigh*

The Ikea Helmer is very affordable at $39.99 and comes in two other colors red and silver. The Antonius Inserts are $3 a piece. If you find yourself running out of room in one you can easily buy another and put them next to each other, if you have the space you can put multiple units next to each other and use the surface for storage as well. Eventually I will probably get another for overspill and to store my nail polish as each drawer holds about 75 bottles standing up.

How do you store your makeup?

  1. I have a large sized caboodle traincase that I simply love. I like that storage system from IKEA for everyday items such as brushes.

    1. Lol I started with a small train case about 4 years ago and this is where I am after building up and giving away. If I kept everything it would need it’s own room!

    1. Thanks and thanks for the correction. Happens sometimes when I’m up super late and typing fast trying to finish a post. Trust me I know the difference per my repeated use of the word correctly in other parts throughout the post
