Nope, I don’t like you at all. I’ve been wanting to try the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation for a while, and after falling in love with the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation I decided to give it a shot. I’ve been testing it out for the past two weeks and we are really not getting along well. I can already see this relationship won’t last long. I picked up the shade Cocoa, Dark 3.
I will say that I do like the packaging. The foundation comes in a small bottle with a pump that perfectly dispenses the product. I love pump bottles for easier application and sanitation purposes. The pump dispenses just the right amount for me…
The foundation is thicker than I expected. Since it is supposed to be air-infused I thought it would be lighter. It is almost as thick as Revlon ColorStay Foundation but creamier. It still blends into the skin well though, and Cocoa is a great match for me. To use the foundation I pump it onto a metalΒ palette and apply with a stippling brush. When using this method you use the least amount of product and achieve an airbrushed finish. Here is how the Liquid Dream Mousse looks on…
The Maybelline Liquid Dream Mousse Foundation gives pretty good coverage and the shade that I chose matches me well, but the positives stops there. First of all, it feels very heavy on the skin. I do not apply a lot and I can still feel it sitting on top of my skin. I do not like to feel as if I am wearing foundation. Secondly, it leaves my face looking like an oil slick after a few hours. I have combination skin which is very oily in the t-zone so I always use a primer and an oil absorbing setting powder. No matter what primer or how much setting powder I use it doesn’t help. My skin gets really oily and I feel as if the foundation is melting off of my face. As we experience warmer weather in NYC it is getting worse and when I sweat i feel like it comes off almost completely. I don’t understand this as the foundation is supposed to be oil free. Last but not least, every time I wear this foundation I develop a new bump or blemish. I’m thinking it’s because of the extra oil. My skin has been doing great recently and I plan to keep it that way. So this is not a good look.
I do not suggest this foundation at all if you have oily or combination skin. If you have dry skin it may work for you. I will revisit it in the Winter when my skin is drier to see if I get different results but as of now it’s thumbs down from me!
The Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse retails at about $8 for 1 fl oz which is around the typical price for drugstore foundation in my opinion. You can find it in your local drugstore that sells Maybelline.

OMG! i am so happy you did a review on this product! Wish I read this before I went out and bought it! First of all i never do drugstore foundations, but since i was away from home and didn’t carry mines i had no choice!
I found it to be SUPER oily, 0 coverage, My setting powder didn’t help at all to take away the shine! It was a disaster! I actually returned it because I felt like my $11 went to complete waste! (yah you’re lucky you paid $8) lol You are my make up guru so next time I will wait for you to give the go ahead on products before I purchase! After all i have combination skin too!
π Thank you lady for your honest and inspirational make up tips and reviews it really helps!
No problem at all, Ty. I wish I could’ve returned mine as well, I hate wasting money. I bought it while visiting my mom and I don’t have a Walmart here so I was stuck.
looks good on u but i didnt like FIT either. Revlon colorstay is great!
Revlon ColorStay is my favorite. It’s just a little heavy for me sometimes on those hot, humid days.
Well, I have to agree and it makes me sad because when this foundation is first applied, my skin looks flawless — but in a couple hours – makes me look like I washed my face in Bacon. I would so love it if it didn’t do that. I had to stop using it.
Lol at you and your bacon references Trish, but yeah it does the same to me. That’s not a good look at all.
I have this in classic ivory I totally agree with you it feels so heavy on my skin and another thing that I have noticed it oxidizes on my skin honestly I don’t like it at all, total waste of money
Definitely a waste of money
I have combination/oily skin too, and I had the same thoughts on this foundation. Just didn’t like it.
This seems to be the consensus so far. Guess it’s not just my skin.
Hi Erica,
Of course your make up is always flawless to me no matter what you use :). I want to try the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam foundation, but I was wondering how can you determine your match? I am a MAC Studio Fix NC42. I forgot what my liquid foundation is. I also wanted to know is there a reason you change foundations? Is is certain looks you want to achieve? When it comes to my foundations, I stick with MAC but since reading your blog, you have help me to just go for it and try different things and if it don’t work then oh well.
Sorry so long. I probably should have emailed you…lol
Lol No problem. I saw someone else’s review with a similar complexion to mine and that helped with choosing a shade, but the can shade helped as well. I am thinking Honey Beige 310 may be a good fit for you. I say go to the store and take a look at the can and try it out, you can return it if it doesn’t work out (double check though.)
I use different foundations depending on the coverage I need, the condition of my skin at the moment or what I’m doing. I like light foundations or tinted moisturizer when I’m just chilling out on the weekends, heavier coverage for full face, party makeup and medium coverage for work. Sometimes I just switch because I am testing something for you guys! π
Hope that helps.
Thanks a bunch and yes it did help. I now understand the different reasons you switch up. I typically use the same foundation for all and just tune up the lips and eyes or tone down when needed…..LOL. I picked up the Honey beige during lunch by doing exactly what you mentioned of how to gage the shade. It appears to be the perfect match. I will test it tonight and let you know how it works!!! π
Thanks again!
So glad that I could help. I hope it works out for you hon. Have a great weekend!
Thank you for your candor! I considered trying it, but I can save my duckets since I have combination oily in the tzone skin. I too am on the east coast & it’s been sweltering so far. Can’t imagine having that kind of fight w/ my foundation.
Yeah, it’s a losing battle girl
thanks for the heads up, there is nothing like having an oily face in the THICK of summer!
No problem, that’s the worse!
What lip color are you wearing you know I always gotta ask when I see something I like, so this won’t be the end lol.
Lol it’s all good but I’m sorry for this one I can’t remember π
Ok, so after wearing this recently I now remember. It’s Milani HD Advanced Lip Color in Vivacious Fuchsia.
I’m glad you did this post!!! I’ve been wanting to try some of this for awhile now. Now I know not to purchase it! I actually just had my mom send me some of the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation in the mail after reading your post on it. I hope it gets here SOON can’t wait to try it. I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes. I even ordered the brushes you recommended as well π THANKS for sharing
No problem at all. Glad that I could be of some assistance π
too bad it had all that negative…..it looks great on you
Thank you. Yeah sucks, I wish it worked
I just purchased this foundation earlier. My fingers are crossed!
If you don’t have oily skin you should be fine.
