Maybelline Dream Airfoam Foundation in Cocoa

Maybelline’s new Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation is as light as… well air, making it perfect for everyday wear. It’s a lightweight foam foundation made with refined pigments pre-dispersed in air for easy application and a natural finish. The SPF 16 is a bonus as a little sun protection is always a good thing. When I saw Danielle ofย  The Style & Beauty Doctor’s Review I just had to try this foundation for myself. I picked up the shade 370 Cocoa which is a chocolate brown with slight red undertones. It comes in 12 shades.

The foundation comes in a can reminiscent to that of hair mousse with a very similar opening. To use it, you just have to shake the can really well to mix the pigments (I shake for about 30 seconds) and disperse a small amount on the back of your hand or a palette. You must press very gently or too much will come out and get all over the place. The foundation disperses as foam but dissipates into a light liquid after sitting for a while.

You can apply the foundation with your fingers and blend, but I find that using a Stippling Brush gives the best finish. You get an almost airbrushed look. I’ve been applying it using my EcoTools Stippling Brush from the Alicia Silverstone Spr 11 Collection. Here is how it looks on…

I love this foundation! It is very lightweight and gives light to medium coverage. One pump A half pump is enough to cover the entire face when using the stippling method. It glides on smooth, blends well and sinks seamlessly into the skin giving an almost airbrushed effect. This foundation is perfect for those who don’t like anything heavy for everyday. It’s lighter than a tinted moisturizer but gives slightly more coverage. If you have decent skin and just want to even out your skintone, then this one is for you. My skin is pretty clear and has 1 or 2 acne spots that are fading and this foundation covers them. Now if you have major acne scarring or marks you will need to apply a concealer before using this foundation.

Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam is formulated for normal skin so if you have Oily or Combination Skin like I do then you must use a primer. With a primer and a good setting powder this foundation stays put for the entire workday and I just had to blot my nose one time. This is my new favorite foundation for everyday wear and I would definitely purchase it again.

The Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation retails between $8 and $12 for 1.6 oz. I paid $11.99 (no sale or coupons.) You should be able to find it at a drugstore near you.

  1. YES! This looks AWESOME on you (though I’m not surprised—everything looks good on you). I bet in areas outside of NYC, it retails for around $8…lol. I paid $11.49 for mine, but got back $3 in CVS extracare bucks.

    1. Thanks so much, Danielle. I wish I had received some points or bonus but it’s all good since I love it. Next time I’m near a Walmart I will check there. It will probably be cheaper but bet they won’t have my shade lol

  2. Wow.. I really like the result. Now, I am using the body shop two way cake but I dont really happy with it becaus its way too light so not cover my spots.. Anyway, do I have to put loose powder over this Maybelline foundation?

    1. Lol I am practicing dispensing the right amount. You don’t need a lot for stippling so you are right, you end up wasting a lot

  3. Really want to try this foundation. and your eyebrows are fierce. I have been asking beauty bloggers to show me how to create strong brows. can we meet at Sephora one day so you can show me.

    1. Thank you. I am practicing the brow thing. I have good days and bad days depending on how much time I have to perfect them. We can do that or maybe I will do a video. I have very sparse brows with barely an arch so they take a lot of work

  4. My Soror… you’re looking good today!
Love the lipstick, love the brows.
You’ve got me wanting that foundation now.
    MUST.RESIST
    MUST.RESIST!

    1. But then a Zeta Lady looks good everyday! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thankz Soror. I say give it a shot, definitely if you can find some coupons. That way if you don’t like it, it won’t be such a big loss ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. This foundation looks very promising! With the warmer weather approaching I could really use a lightweight foundation. Thanks for the review ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. No problem. I am still loving this foundation and learning how to dispense it. A half pump covers the entire face using the stippling method. Perfect.

  6. Wow, this looks flawless on you. I ran into your blog while searching for reviews of this foundation, and im glad we are the same complexion. lol. Gonna go out and try this asap! great review.

    1. Thank you. I believe that I am wearing MAC Vintage Grape Blush from the Spring Colour Forecast Collection. It was recently re-released in the Daphne Guinness Collection so you may be able to track it down.

    1. I don’t do anything special to avoid this. I just cleanse, tone and moisturize my skin regularly to keep it supple. Hope that helps!

  7. i keep seeing these plates that are used to hold the make-up…where do you get those from?

    1. I buy them from a vendor at The Makeup Show but you should be able to get them from anywhere that sells professional makeup

  8. I used to break out usually once or twice a month and now its more often (still not bad at all) but will this make my break outs worse?

    1. I can’t tell you that since everyone’s skin is different. It doesn’t make me break out but I use different foundations/tinted moisturizers during the week depending on the look I am going for and don’t really use one constantly
