MAC Sweet As Cocoa Dark Skin

See my sweet and innocent face? *batting my lashes* lol. I’ve had Sweet As Cocoa for about two years now and wore it non stop when I first added it to my collection, but after a while began to ignore it for MAC Raizin… which if you guys haven’t noticed is my absolute fave (full post coming soon.) Trying to keep my makeup as simple as possible lately due to time constraints, I’ve been wearing Sweet As Cocoa for the last four days straight and I’m in love again.

Very pigmented, applies smooth and blends well. Slight shimmer, definitely not over powering. Just a small amount on the apples of the cheeks does wonders. Even better, it’s pretty universal so anyone can wear it. Application is key.

MAC Sweet As Cocoa Blush

Available at MAC Cosmetics $19.50. Want something similar at a fraction of the cost? Try NYX powder blush in Cocoa which retails for about $6 and is also gorgeous, I had it and used it all up. Only blush I’ve ever finished (although that is when I was first starting out my collection).

Do you have MAC Sweet As Cocoa in your arsenal?

  1. Looks gorgeous on u hun, beautiful shade. Mac face products tend to irritate me face every now&again so haven’t got it but I want it haha xxx

    1. Thanks Sharon. For that reason I usually don’t try new face products from MAC and stick to what I know. I had a really bad reaction from the blot powder a few years back. Took almost a yr for my skin to recover completely.

  2. Looks good. Raizin was my first ever Mac blush & I wore it everyday for years. I picked up Sweet as Cocoa in the summer & I’ve found it hard not to use it everyday. It’s great for brown skinned girls

    1. Thank you. When I am getting ready for work, I automatically reach for Raizin since I am so used to wearing it. I’ve been forcing myself to stop wearing it and reach for one of the other 20+ blush in my collection. Lately I tend to rotate between MAC Raizin & NARS Taos, now I can’t pull away from Sweet As Cocoa.

  3. Sweet as Cocoa is an oldie but goodie. I’ve had the same one for 3 years now. Probably need to get a new one. Ha! It looks beautiful on you.

  4. Yes! I saw this at my local Saks Off 5th 3 days ago and I snapped it up for $14. I’m absolutely in love w/ it and I can’t believe I’ve ignored it until now. I stan for NARS blushes so I’ve tended to ignore MAC ones but this one is just wonderful. I’ve been using it every day and I’m also looking to do a review too. Definitely a brown girl staple.

  5. Thanks for the update! I’ve tried a few bushes but they either don’t show much or too bright.

    1. If I could only have one blush it would be Raizin, but of course I would cheat and have two… The other being Sweet As Cocoa lol

  6. Holy crap. That is gorgeous
I love ya and reading ya blog
Rarely commennt but this made me want to say. Simply stunning
My mother said dark skinned do not need blush..so I never really bothered

But I think I need this
She does not know what she is talking about. Obviously. Hehe

    1. Awww thx so much. A lot of “old school moms” say dark skin doesn’t need blush because the colors look un-natural compared to our natural flush, and when not applied properly can look clownish. However, they need to meet Sweet As Cocoa, they will change their mind for sure lol

    1. Thank you. Lol, I will try to do one using Sweet As Cocoa ASAP. I am so backed up and have a ton of stuff to share with you guys!

    1. No problem at all. I don’t own Format but it looks gorgeous. Think I’ll need to add that one to my collection. Thanks! πŸ™‚
