Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

I hope all of you guys had a Merry Christmas and that you are enjoying the holiday season, I know I am :). Urban Decay has set the beauty world on aย  frenzy once again with the release of their Naked 2 Palette, the sequel to the Naked Palette which beauty enthusiasts are still raving over, myself included. When I saw the previews of Naked 2 I thought I’d just pass on it because I have the original Naked Palette, the Sleek Au Naturel Palette and a palette ofย  MAC neutral eyeshadows, but deep down inside I still wanted to get my hands on Naked 2. Well Santa decided that I had been a very good girl this year and the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette was one of my Christmas gifts!

The Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette has 12 neutral eyeshadow shades in matte, glitter and shimmer textures. Five shades are new and only one is a repeat from the original Naked Palette, Half Baked. The palette comes with a Good Karma Shadow/Crease Brush which is exclusive to the Naked 2 Palette and a travel size Lip Junkie Gloss in Naked. The Naked 2 Palette also flaunts a chic new design, a snap close tin which is a nice upgrade from the felt, flip close case of the original Naked Palette.

All of the shadows in the Naked 2 palette are extremely pigmented and apply smooth. Here are some comparisons with the original Naked Palette…

Urban-Decay-Naked2-Palette-9

Top Row Naked: Virgin, Sin, Naked, Side Car, Buck, Half Baked

Bottom Row Naked 2: Foxy, Half Baked, Booty Call, Chopper, Tease, Snake Bite

Top Row Naked: Smog, Dark Horse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep, Gun Metal

Bottom Row Naked 2: Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout

There are a few shades in Naked 2 that are similar to a few in the Naked Palette but definitely not dupes. Hustle is similar to Busted, Toasted to YDK and Smog to Snake Bite. If you own the original Naked Palette and your reasoning for not getting Naked 2 is because they are too much alike, this is not the case. Getting Naked 2 will just make your range of neutral shadows in your collection more extensive. I do wish Urban Decay would have added a few more deeper matte shades though. If you already have a ton of neutral eyeshadows in your collection you do not need this palette. For the MUAs, I highly recommend this palette for your kit even if you already have the Naked Palette since the palette is compact, the eyeshadows have great pigmentation, and the shades are perfect for weddings. If you are just starting out, getting both Naked palettes would be a great start for your neutral shade needs.

Overall I am really digging Naked 2. Retails for $50 and available at www.urbandecay.com (currently sold out) , mid-to-late January for Sephora, Ulta, beauty.com, Macyโ€™s, and February 2012ย  internationally.

Oh and check out the Lip Junkie Gloss in Naked…

  1. Hmmmm, I just got the first one and I’m satisfied. If I do get the second one it would have to be an “I love you just because” gift from someone. LoL

    1. As long as you’ve got a piece of the Naked cake you’re good lol. The original Naked Palette is still my fave but I think this one may be headed to the number 1 spot soon!

  2. At first I couldn’t understand what all the hype was about for this overpriced palette…that is until I was in Macy’s today and strolled into the Sephora section. I dipped my finger in the tester and bam, it was a wrap. The colors look basic in the palette but when you swatch they come alive on chocolate skin! Luvs

  3. Hi! Great post, really good pictures and swatches! I am having a contest on my blog to give away a Naked2 palette. I was wondering if you would share it on your blogroll? And feel free to enter yourself! Let me know if you don’t mind. I didn’t want to just post a comment with the link to the blog contest without asking you if it was OK.

    1. Thanks for asking first. You can post your giveaway link here, I am sure my readers would love a chance to win this palette ๐Ÿ™‚
