My First Experience With Contact Lenses

Circle lenses or big eye contacts has become quite popular. So I tried me a pair from EyeCandy Lens.

I’ve never worn contact lenses before. I have 20/20 vision so I’ve never had to wear them, and the one time that I wanted to try a pair back in high school my mom said absolutely not. I remember I wanted a hunter green pair. I begged and pleaded but nope, my mom didn’t budge. Just another phase that I grew out of. I was recently contacted by Eyecandy Lens to try out a pair of their contacts for review and I was super excited.  Felt like I was 16 again. Eyecandy Lens specializes in Korean Color Circle Lenses. Circle lenses or big eye contacts has been all the rage over the past few years and has become quite popular with celebrities such as Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga. I think they look pretty cool and thought what better way to try contacts for the first time then with a pair of circle lens. I chose the Dolly Eye Honey Hazel Lens.

The lenses came bottled securely, each in a separate jar of solution. They also came with a case.

The Dolly Eye Honey Hazel Lenses are hazel brown with dark brown specks and rimmed in dark brown. Take a closer look…

Here are the specs:

Brand: Seeshell
Origin: South Korea
Water content: 42%
Diameter: 14.5 mm
Base Curve: 8.6
Duration: 1 year disposable
Price: $26.97

The lenses came with detailed instructions including pictures to help you insert them

Now onto my experience. Boy oh boy I do not know how people wear contact lenses. I followed the instructions carefully and even tried to improvise a bit and still had an extremely hard time putting them on. It took me almost an hour and my eyes were super irritated and watery when I was done. It took about fifteen minutes for them to settle down. Once settled in, I loved the way the lens looked…

The lens has a wide pupil area that exposes your natural eye color

I wore the contacts for about four hours straight until I could not wear them anymore. The entire time I could feel them in my eyes and after a while they became uncomfortable to the point that it was unbearable. My eyes felt dry and irritated, I do however suffer from very dry eyes on the regular. I don’t know if this had anything to do with these particular lenses, or if it is just that I am not used to wearing contacts and have to get accustomed to them. I may also need a better solution to soak them in.

I really like the look of the Dolly Eye Honey Hazel Lens from Eyecandy Lens. They are dramatic enough without going overboard and I would not feel funny wearing them out on a regular day. I could even get away with these at work. However, I only plan to wear these once in a while until I get used to them. I can even see myself picking up another shade to spice up my looks for those nights out on the town. You can purchase Eyecandy Lens for yourself at http://eyecandylens.com. 1. this shade suits you so perfectly 🙂 i’ve been obsessed with getting some colored lens lately, used to have brown like these and grey…..really want to try green and will check out this eyecandy lens site 🙂

    1. Thank you girlie. I could so see you with some grey lens. Can’t wait to see some looks when you do snatch up a pair or a few 🙂

  2. I have a pair of these I was sent to review … they have been sitting in my drawer cos me and them just DO NOT AGREE.

They look good on you but I know what you mean about the irritation etc

    1. What color did you get? Are you an experienced contact wearer? I don’t know how my eyes are supposed to feel. I am going to try them again soon and will get some more solution too

  3. I like the shade you choose on you. Do you know if they sell prescriptive lenses? I pretty much only buy grey lenses and wear for special occasions but would love to try other colors but being I have impaired vision I have to order them as prescribed.

    1. Thanks Kimmy. Yes, they sell prescriptive lenses as well. You just let them know your prescription and they will make them for you.

    1. Thank you. I like when people wear contacts that look natural, it’s the ones that look unrealistic or the ones that look scary (black lenses) that I don’t care for. At least not when worn on a daily basis but for special occasions they are ok.

  4. I’ve been wearing contacts for years. They are simple to put in once you get use to it. Your eyes will get irritated after that many tries because they get dirty easy when on your hands and not in your eyes or solution. They look good on you. Once you get use to putting them in properly you won’t have irritation.

    1. Thank you and I know what you mean. I had to constantly wash my hands and keep putting the contacts in the solution to clean them and keep them wet in order to insert. I was ready to quit! Lol

  5. The color looks gorgeous on you! I do wear contacts all the time for vision (colored and clear) and at first it is extremely hard to put them in. It took me hours at first and then half an hour, 15 minutes and now a few seconds, lol… it takes me a little longer to put the colored ones in because they’re more delicate than the clear ones.

You may want to buy some lubrication for your eyes, like Refresh Tears or Visine and they make some for contact wearers…this will cut down on the dry and irritating feeling.

  6. Not bad! MY natural eyes are outlined in a grey and then hazel ring and give them a doll like look sometimes. I’ve get asked if I am wearing contacts all the time but because my eyes are a really dark brown (I used to think they were black when I was small) I never understood why someone would think they were contacts (I assumed people went for lighter colored contacts) thats when I came across these circle lenses then I realized why everyone thought my big doe eyes were actual contacts!!! I tried wearing contacts in HS but they looked so abnormally fake (SCARY!!!) that I had to give it up! oh how I LOVE my doe eye look lol you have amazing eyes with and without the contacts

    1. Thanks girlie. It kills me that when a dark skinned person has some type of light eyes ppl automatically assume it is contacts. Like hello it can happen. Lol at “abnormally fake” that is how I probably would have looked with them hunter green eyes which I’ve never seen irl at all smh.

Your eyes are big and beautiful. Reminds of a little girl with big brown eyes and when she opens them wide you just can’t say no lol. I never noticed the color but now I am going to be on the look out because I think it’s totally cool! 🙂

    1. I wanted to wear them this past weekend but when I thought about the hassle of putting them on and the irritation, I promptly changed my mind. Maybe this wknd lol

  7. You look stunning! I just got mine from Eye Candy Lens and have yet to try it out. This will be my first time trying out contacts so I’m kinda scare lol! Do you have any problem taking them out? Isn’t it scary to pinch your eyeball?

    1. Thank you. I am getting much better at putting them in but it’s still scary to take them out, I don’t like the whole pinching the eyeball thing lol

  8. i know this is an old post put eyecandylens/eyecandys sells fake lenses.. they’re really dangerous.

    1. I can’t prove whether your statement is true or not, but in any case I no longer work with this brand. Yes, this post is very old.
