Sleek Pout Paints Giving OCC Lip Tars Some Competition? Swatches & Dupes

Sleek Pout Paints are made with high intensity pigments and require a tiny drop to cover both lips. Sounds familiar? They are very similar OCC Lip Tars

Sleek Pout Paints

Sleek Pout Paint Lip Stains are due to be released soon and just like OCC Lip Tars, the Sleek Pout Paints are made with high intensity pigments and require a tiny drop to cover both lips. They also apply like a gloss and dry down to a semi-matte finish, and can be mixed to create custom colors.

The Sleek Pout Paints come in a slightly longer but slimmer tube, however both contain the same amount of product, .27 Fl OZ.

It is slightly easier and less messyΒ  to get out of the tube than OCC Lip Tars, however unless you want to stain your fingers with the pigments, you will need to use a lip brush. Let’s check out some swatches…

Pin Up, Cloud, Peek-a-bloo, Pinkini

As you can see, the pout paints are super pigmented and glossy just like OCC Lip Tars. Now let’s compare them to OCC Lip Tars… Dupe Alert!

Sleek Pin Up & OCC NSFW, Sleek Cloud & OCC Feathered, Sleek Pinkini & OCC Anime

Sleek definitely has some dupes of OCC Lip Tars among the Pout Paints. Same pigmentation, same texture and finish, and even some dupes... but what about the ingredients? Here are the ingredients for OCC Lip Tars…

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Oil, Mentha X Peprita (Peppermint) Oil, Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E)

May Contain: D&C Red #7, D&C Red #30, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Yellow #6, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide

and for Sleek Pout Paints…

Polyisobutene, Polybutene, Ricinus communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Bees Wax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Butylated Hydroxy Anisole, Glycol Distearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond Oil), ,Octyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, tocopheryl Acetate, Squalane, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyiglycerin, Fragrance

May Contain: Titanium Dioxide Cl 77891, D&C Red 6 Cl 15850, D&C Red 7 Cl 15850, D&C Red 27 Cl 45410, FD&C Yellow 5 Cl 19140, FD&C Blue 1 Cl 42090, Iron oxides (Cl 77499, Cl 77492)

Now I am not sure what all of this stuff is, however I do see natural oils, glycerin and sunscreen in the mix. Pout Paints lack peppermint oil so there is no minty smell or taste, however there is a slight fruity scent. I did not detect any flavor.

How about performance?

OCC Lip Tars last a very long time on the lips and can even survive a meal, however I find them to be very drying and you need to wear a lip balm as a base. The Sleek Pout Paints are also very long lasting on the lips but compared to the lip tars they are a bit moisturizing, probably due to the glycerin content. They did not make my lips chap or peel like the OCC Lip Tars tend to. This is a huge development for this type of lip product in my opinion. Highly pigmented with a small amount, long lasting and non-drying? Hard to come by in a single product. You should still use a lip balm as a base to protect the lips though as the pigments stain, unless that is what you want.

  1. How interesting. Sleek are really expanding their brand fast.

It’ll be nice to see what the deal is with these. They sound quite positive.

Do you mind if I link your post to a post on my blog honey ?

    1. They are definitely expanding fast and I am loving it. You guys are super lucky to have the brand right at your fingertips.

Sure you can link the post hon, not a problem! πŸ™‚

  2. I CANNOT wait for these. I couldn’t get my hands on the OCC lip tars so these will be more accessible to me. I hope they’re not too expensive when they come out. I will definitely be buying all of the pink shades lol xx

  3. I love the look of these.

I’ve wanted to try OCC Lip Tars for some time now but have just never ordered. I do think these look like a good dupe, although their much longer ingredient list seems a bit odd, depending on the price though I’ll check out my local superdrug to see them if it get’s them.

Also, the very end one, is that a coral colour?

    1. The one at the end is indeed a coral color. I am not sure if the longer ingredient list is a good thing or a bad thing, though I see a lot of different types of glycerins which is a good thing, since glycerin is super moisturizing!

  4. These sleek goodies look pretty cool. I have most of the OCC lip tars so I’ll probly order one sleek paint pout just for try when I really do an order with them. Their shipping price just upsets me, wish it could be lower.

    1. Hopefully their products will be at our finger tips soon in the U.S. but I do agree that shipping is steep. To offset the cost make sure your order is large enough to justify the shipping, or order with some friends! πŸ™‚

  5. Oh wow these look awesome. I have been wanting to try OCC lip tars for a while, but these are just as tempting (especially if they are cheaper!). I still would have to order online though because we don’t have Sleek in the US

  6. They sent these to a friend of mine too and we weren’t impressed. It was hi-pigment for a gloss, but nothing like a Lip Tar. Plus I’d feel wrong having these in my kit. There like having Designer Imposted OCC!! LOL!

    1. Lol I have OCC Lip Tars in my kit but don’t use them as much for personal use because my lips suffer. The Pout Paints don’t dry out my lips like the Tars. I know a lot of MUA’s are brand loyal, especially for products in their kit… but for the regular consumer who is only worried about performance, brand aside, these are perfect. I personally have a lot of Sleek products in my kit and wouldn’t mind using these alongside my OCC Lip Tars, especially if there are unique colors to the Tars, or colors that I don’t own.

      Thanks for chiming in! πŸ™‚

  7. These look great! Would you say there is a dupe for OCC’s Katricia in the new line? Thanks!

    1. There is a purple that looks like it may be a dupe, but I don’t have the rest of the shades to swatch so I am not 100% positive. Sorry hon.

  8. omg these look amazing!! I already love Sleek Pout Polishes, this pout paint looks like absolute dupes of the OCC lip tars and as a makeup artist the cheaper the better for my kit!

Can’t wait til these are released..splurge alert!

  9. Hi

Love this post, I’m from the UK and a huge sleek makeup fan. I believe they will be a permenant addition to the sleek makeup range as in the drugstore (Superdrug) that stock sleek, they have an empty slot ready for them to be launched into the permenant range, they were priced at Β£4.99, I thought it might be of some use to you and your readers.

    xxxxx
