As Spring comes into full bloom, it is the perfect time to rejuvenate the skin from the damage that old man Winter has left behind. Winter can be pretty harsh on the skin, drying it out and causing peeling and cracking. Exfoliation is key in bringing your skin back to life after the Winter blues. With that being said, I jumped at the opportunity to try the PMD Personal Microderm At-Home Microdermabrasion System. For those who may not know what microdermabrasion is, it is a procedure that uses mechanical exfoliation to remove the dead layer of skin cells from the epidermis, using a tool that consists of a suction and aluminum oxide crystals to buff away the dead skin. With the PMD Personal Microderm System, you can use the same technology as used at the doctor’s office to perform microdermabrasion at home, for a fraction of the cost!
The claim…
Achieve amazing anti-aging results at home with Personal Microderm System. It works just like a professional microdermabrasion treatment without the hassle or cost. The hand-held device uses the same aluminum oxide crystals as the ten thousand dollar machines found at your doctor’s office. It smooths away dead skin cells, diminishing age spots and other signs of aging.
For best results when using the Personal Microderm, use a cell renewal or gentle skin resurfacing cream in conjunction with the microdermabrasion tool, such as Boske Molecular Repair or M2 Skin Refinish. This powerful system for skin treatment combines some of the finest serums and creams for cell renewal and skin resurfacing on the market with the enhanced results achieved through microdermal exfoliation. One without the other will not give you the significant results that both combined do. Use either the M2 or the Boske products with this tool and see for yourself how powerful this combination is.
Before using the system it is very important that you watch the Instructional Disc and follow all directions. As mentioned above, it is suggested that you also use a skin refinish serum but not right after the procedure as this can be painful due to the acidic content of the product. I was sent a sample of the M2 Skin Refinish and used it the night before and two days after every treatment. It is also important to follow each treatment with a good moisturizer. The combination of the microdermabrasion with the serum and moisturizer is supposed to yield best results.
My Experience…
I used the PMD Personal Microderm for a total of three weeks, one treatment a week, totaling three treatments. I used the sensitive skin (blue discs) the first and 3rd times, and the green discs (medium) the second time… the smaller discs around my nose and hard to reach areas, and the larger discs on my cheeks, chin etc.
Check it out in action… the white dust is the dead skin that has been buffed off!
After the first treatment, my nose stinged a bit and I ended up with a few areas welted as if it were scratched, although I was careful. However, my skin was noticeably smoother. After the second treatment, there was less stinging and no scratches. My skin was even more smooth. After the third treatment, I noticed my skin giving off a natural glow and it was very soft and smooth. I had a fresh blemish (visible on cheek) when I started from picking a pimple (bad I know), and after the three treatments it had only faded slightly. However, I do believe with continued use that I would see even more results. Check out the before and after shots, I am wearing no makeup except brow powder and lipgloss…

Overall I was extremely impressed with the PMD Personal Microderm At-Home Microdermabrasion System. $179 is a steal compared to the $75-$200 you would pay per session if getting professional microdermabrasion treatments.
