Get Your Glow On, NARS Laguna Illuminator Review

NARS Laguna Illuminator actually shows up well on my skintone without making me look too orange or red. A brown skinned beauty must have.

Piggybacking off of the Orgasm Illuminator, NARS recently released three new shades in Super Orgasm, Copacabana and Laguna. NARS illuminators are light-reflecting liquids that can be worn alone to highlight areas on the face or decollete, or mixed in with foundation to give skin a luminous glow. You know when you see photos of celebs and they look as if they are glowing from within? Well that would be the affect of an illuminator.  I love my Orgasm Illuminator so I was pretty excited about this release, Laguna in particular. So of course I had to get it.

First of all NARS changed the packaging for the illuminators and they are now in a shorter, wider tube with a flip top. The new packaging contains the same amount of product as the old one, 1.1oz. I actually like the new packaging better as I find that the product is easier to dispense. Here are some comparison shots…

NARS Laguna Illuminator is described as brown with gold shimmer and that is a pretty accurate description. Think bronze. It is absolutely perfect for exactly that, a bronzer. It has the consistency of a liquigel and has just the right amount of pigmentation without being overbearing. It applies smooth and is pretty moisturizing, not sticky at all. Move fast though to blend as it dries quick.

Compared to Orgasm, Laguna has orange undertones while orgasm has peach undertones. Both have decent pigmentation.

Now how does it look on? That is the real test…

Gorgeous! Just as I had expected. Finally a bronzer that actually shows up well on my skintone without making me look too orange or red. A brown skinned beauty must have.

NARS Illuminators retail for $29 USD each and can be purchased exclusively on NARS website, or if you are in NYC at the new NARS Boutique located at 413 Bleeker Street, West Village. Some Sephoras have them in stock already as well, so check yours.

  1. Thank you for taking the time! I love your site!!! it’s so helpful!
    =)It looks amazing on you!

  2. I just saw this in Sephora yesterday and fell in love with it. One of my coworkers was telling me about it a month ago when I came back from Jamaica with a tan. She said that it resembles “laguna”. My tan is fading and the laguna seems like it will be a great way to mimic that wonderful tan I had. I will pay the $30 for it, although it is a bit on the pricey side 🙁
