Yummy Crab Rangoon

Crab Rangoon is a delicious snack, and would be a big hit for holiday parties, girls night in or a treat for the family. Kids love them!

I love to eat. Yup, I’ll admit it… I’m greedy. My latest addiction has been cooking up some of my favorite foods when dining out. A lot of these dishes are so easy to make at a portion of the cost, so why not make it at home. Since my love for food is a big part of…well me, I’m going to start sharing some of these dishes with you guys. No, I am not turning this into a cooking blog, but rather shaking things up a bit around here. So with that being said, let’s start with Crab Rangoon or Cheese Wontons as some call it…

What you will need

1 12 oz package of Wonton Wraps

1 16 oz or 2 8 oz packages of cream cheese

1 6 oz package of crab meat (real or imitation), drained and flaked

2-3 scallion leaves, chopped

1 egg white

dash of salt

dash of pepper

oil for frying

Sweet Chili Sauce (or sauce of choice)

Preparation…

In a large mixing bowl, add cream cheese, crab meat, scallions, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.Β Lay wonton wraps on a plate or flat dish. Spoon cream cheese mix into the center of the wraps in about 3/4 teaspoonfuls. Fold the wonton wraps first in half into triangles and then pull the ends together as shown below.

Try not to over stuff as the mix will come out the sides while cooking, I made this mistake with some. Use egg whites along the edges to seal.

Heat the oil and when it is hot enough add the wontons one by one. Fry until golden brown, turn them over and fry until the other side is golden brown. Be careful as the grease may pop. If you have a deep fryer, use that instead.

Remove from oil with a slotted spoon (one with holes) and drain.Β Serve with the Sweet Chili Sauce or a dipping sauce of your choice. Makes about 48 wontons.

The Crab Rangoon were so delicious. They would be a big hit for holiday parties, girls night in or a treat for the family. Kids love them, my son and little brother devoured these!
