BH Cosmetics 88 Tropical Shimmer Palette: Swatches & Review

The BH Cosmetics 88 Tropical Shimmer Palette includes an array of tropical shimmer shades ranging from neutral browns and greens to bright blues & oranges.

The BH Cosmetics 88 Tropical Shimmer Palette includes an array of tropical shimmer shades ranging from neutral browns and greens to bright blues and oranges… with gorgeous greys and purples in between. There are no matte shades in the palette at all. The glossy plastic case includes a large mirror and two dual-ended eyeshadow applicators making it convenient to apply your shadow on the go. The name of the palette is printed on the outside which is great for identification purposes if you have a lot of palettes.

The shadows are small, about the size of a dime but has good pigmentation and little fallout. Here are a few swatches…

Although the shadows have good pigmentation, to achieve the maximum pigmentation and longevity of wear I suggest the use of a good eyeshadow primer such as Urban Decay Primer Potion. A creme eyeshadow base such as NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils will also make the shadows pop more.

Overall this is a great palette. It includes a nice assortment of shades with good pigmentation. The colors are diverse and wearable for both daytime and night time. The palette itself is a little cheaply made so I would suggest careful use. While I was testing the palette, I picked it up to close it and one of the shadows fell out and hit the floor. Thank goodness the shadow did not shatter nor chip but it should not have fell out so easily without any trauma.

This palette is perfect for a beginning makeup enthusiast who wants to add a lot of shades at once, or for the Makeup Artist to add to their kit. The BH Cosmetics Tropical Shimmer Palette can be purchased for $24.95 at www.bhcosmetics.com which is a great deal for 88 different shades if you ask me!

  1. I love eyeshadow palettes. This is a huge pan. The swatches of red, pink, yellow and blue are beautiful bright shades. But overall the palette is a bit too warm for me. Well, I like warm tones…but this is kinda 'overdose' ? 😉

  2. Really great, wearable shades! I love this palette because you will actually get some good usage out of most of the shades, unlike other palettes where you may only use a few of the shades regularly because most of the shades are 'off-the-wall' shades. great pick and review.
