Last Wednesday, I had the honor of attending an exclusive event for beauty bloggers hosted by Karen Oliver and Associates and Gorgeous On the Go, Ask Dr. Graf. The event was held on the terrace of The Metropolitan Club. Although it was supposed to rain, Mother Nature was kind to us and it turned out to be a wonderful event.
Dr. Jeannette Graf & Karen Oliver
Dr. Jeannette Graf a renowned dermatologist and best-selling author of Stop Aging, Start Living spoke about being beautiful from the inside out and the importance of eating healthy. Dr. Graf went into detail about how what we put into our bodies directly affect our pH levels. She gave tips from her book and explained how our pH correlates with our skin, for example if you are acidic you are more prone to breakouts. She also explained the importance of eating lots of fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants to achieve the optimum pH of about 7.2. Dr. Graf also spoke about the importance of taking a Vitamin D supplement especially if you are of darker skintone as higher amounts of Melanin prevents Vitamin D absorption from the sun, as Melanin acts as a natural sunscreen (You hear that Brown Skinned Beauties!) Everyone was given a signed copy of Dr. Graf’s book, pH strips and a Gift Bag.
Everyone was also given Dr. Graf’s Skin Care Challenge based on her 2 week pH Diet described in her book, for a chance to win a one-on-one skincare consultation and personalized beauty treatment from Dr. Graf. The challenge requires that you try the 24-Hour Kick start Diet & 2 Week Plan.
Karen Oliver explaining how to use the pH strips.
There was also a raffle for a Gift Bag containing over $700 worth of products which was won by Bree of I’m So Hollywood. As mentioned earlier, everyone was given a gift bag. Contents included products from Glytone, Avene and Rene Furterer.
