I tried some more new hair goodies from my Texture on the Runway gift bag this weekend. This time around I used products from As I Am which is another brand that I had never tried before. I received the As I Am Leave-In Conditioner along with the new As I Am Coil Defining Jelly, and both products are designed to be used together. I took the duo for a spin to create a Wash n’ Go.
As I Am Leave In Conditioner– Adds moisture and shine, seals the cuticle layer and helps strengthen hair. It has an organic strengthening agent along with natural ingredients that promote hair growth such as Extracts of Coconut, Amla, Sugar Beet Root, Green Tea, Lemon, Apple, Sugar Cane, Phytosterols and Saw Palmetto. The conditioner has a lot of slip making it easy to detangle hair while wet.
As I Am Coil Defining Jelly– Easy to use, no-flake formula curling gel geared toward tightly-coiled natural hair textures (Type 4 hair), and designed for Wash n’ Go Styling. It moisturizes with Aloe Vera, Amla Extract, Shikakai Extract, Vegetable Glycerin and Vitamin E, and adds shine.
I did a Bentonite Clay Mask on my hair, and while still soaking wet I applied the As I Am Leave-In Conditioner and combed through. I separated my hair into sections and applied the As I Am Coil Defining Jelly using The Shingling Method, making sure that my hair stayed soaking wet the entire time. I covered my hair with a satin bonnet and allowed it to air dry overnight. My coils came out POPPIN’! Take a look…
I’m so used to layering a bunch of products to achieve moisture and definition that I was skeptical about using just these products, but I didn’t need anything else. My hair came out extremely moisturized and shiny with super defined, bouncy coils. It took about 8 hours or so for my hair to dry completely. It dried down to a firm (not hard/crispy) finish with no flakes in sight. The style has been holding up great. To maintain I sleep with a satin bonnet and fluff with my fingers. I lift any areas that flattened while I was asleep with a pick. I’m on day 4 and my hair still looks exactly like this. This product duo will be staples in my hair arsenal, especially the Coil Defining Jelly. It’s the truth!
