For the most part I’ve been using all natural (or mostly natural) hair care products since I’ve started my natural hair journey, so I’m always excited to find a new brand. My DNA is a line of natural hair products geared toward all types of curls and textures, and formulated with natural ingredients. The brand sent me over their Sulfate Free Shampoo, Detangling Conditioner and Moisturizing Hair Butter for review. Before I go into details about the products, I just have to tell you guys how amazing this line smells. The scent is so sweet and tropical thanks to the addition of Monoi de Tahiti (Gardenia Tahitensis Flower Extract), and makes me feel like I should be laid out on a beautiful beach far, far away. Yes, it smells that good and it lingers for days! Now let’s get to how the products perform.
The MY DNA Sulfate Free Shampoo is a moisturizing cleansing shampoo that removes product build-up and residue without stripping hair. It combines Monoi de Tahiti, Rose and Chamomile to nourish and protect your hair and scalp. The shampoo lathers up nicely without having to use too much. My hair was squeaky clean, soft and moisturized when I was done washing.
The MY DNA Detangling Conditioner saturates hair with intense moisture to hydrate and detangle for improved manageability. It’s infused with Monoi de Tahiti and pure oils to stimulate the scalp and add shine to hair while nourishing and protecting. The conditioner has a lot of slip which made it very easy to detangle my hair, especially using the My DNA Detangling Comb. It’s not heavy enough to use as a deep conditioner, but it was perfect for detangling and adding some moisture back into my hair after washing.
The MY DNA Moisturizing Hair Butter moistens and conditions while eliminating frizz. The unique combination of Monoi de Tahiti and Shea Butter provides moisture while boosting the natural curl pattern to define coils and curls. The hair butter also reduces shrinkage and enhances stretch. I used it along with my Eco Styler Gel to do a twist out with some finger shingling. My hair was left extremely moisturized with great definition, but it didn’t play nicely with the gel as I had some flaking. I had to rewash my hair the next day as it was pretty bad. Next time I’ll use the hair butter alone. Anyway, here is how it turned out… I loved the results!
