After falling in love with the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, I vowed to try Train Bleu which has been on my wishlist for forever. A friend of mine that works at Sephora sent me a 20% off code for the Employee Appreciation Sale, so I ordered the infamous Train Bleu along with a few other goodies that was on my wish list. It’s all that I hoped it would be and more.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are lipsticks in jumbo crayon form. The pencils are extremely pigmented and as the name suggests, have a velvet matte finish. Enriched with Vitamin E and silicones, the creamy texture glides on smooth leaving long lasting color that doesn’t dry out the lips.
Train Bleu is described as a deep aubergine, and it’s just that- a deep eggplant purple that is perfect for the Fall and Winter seasons (or anytime in my book.) Here are a few similar shades that I have in my collection…
None are exact dupes, but Train Bleu is exactly what I expected Talk That Talk to be. Nightmoth is a little darker than Train Bleu but very similar. Talk That Talk could be a dupe if it had better pigmentation. Nigthmoth + Talk That Talk would probably be the perfect dupe. Black Cherry is close, but obviously has a completely different finish.
Train Bleu has great pigmentation and wears well for hours. As with a lot of vamp shades, when it begins to fade it starts in the inner lip area. This doesn’t look good at all so it needs to be touched up immediately. It’s extremely comfortable on the lips, especially over a lip balm. I just put a dab of Bite Agave Lip Mask on my lips before applying. I am so glad that I finally added Train Bleu to my collection. If I could only own one Vamp shade then this would be it!
