OCC Lip Tar Primer Review

The Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Primer is a hydrating primer formulated with hemp oil and vitamin E to moisturize lips in preparation for lip tar application. It can also be used to refresh your lip tar throughout the day without adding more color.

Calling this a primer is kind of a misnomer. A lip primer is supposed to help your lip color stay put longer but this does no such thing. However, it is extremely moisturizing which is very good as lip tars can be somewhat drying, and it does make the color pop more. The primer also gives lip tars more of a glossy appearance as opposed to matte. This is the case even with the smallest amount.

Lip tars tend to leave a stain on the lips and the lip tar primer protects the lips from staining. I cleaned both swatches with my MAC Cleanse Off Oil and the one without primer left a very visible stain while the swatch with primer left a faint stain. If you don’t like staining this is a big plus.

Overall the OCC Lip Tar Primer is very refreshing due to the inclusive Peppermint Oil and feels good on the lips. A tiny bit goes a long way so it will last a while, even with everyday use. If you suffer from dry lips it is extremely hydrating and will sooth and moisturize immediately. If you like your lip tars to have more of a glossy appearance than matte, then this will be your bestie. It can also be used with your other lip products aside from lip tars. It preps the lips very well for lip tar application but if you are looking for an actual primer, look elsewhere.
