Milani broke the internet last year with their Color Statement line of lipsticks. The blogosphere was in a frenzy and bloggers and makeup enthusiasts alike couldn’t get enough of the super affordable, extremely pigmented lipsticks. Well Milani is back again with a new line of lipsticks, Color Statement Moisture Matte, and I tell you MAC better watch their back because they’ve been duped!
The Moisture Matte Lipsticks are not your typical mattes. They are not as dry as some mattes can be and that is because they are infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy to make them more comfortable on the lips. There are eight shades available from pale nude to sultry red, there’s something for everyone… and they are vegan as well!
Matte Confident bold brick red
Matte Glam yummy grape Italian ice purple
Matte Orchid super flattering fuchsia
Matte Diva poppy hot pink
Matte Passion fiery sunset orange red
Matte Naked medium nude
Matte Innocence pinky nude
Matte Blissful girly blush pink
The lipsticks are extremely pigmented in one coat and glide on smooth and creamy. No pulling or tugging. I usually do on lip swatches to give you guys a better look but I’m still sick and my lips are still on the dry side so I will spare you guys that vision right now lol. When I’m better and my lips are back to normal, maybe I’ll do another post with on lip swatches and a review on wear as I can’t tolerate anything matte on my lips right now. Moving on… if some of these shades look familiar that’s because they are dupes of some of MAC’s most popular shades. Let’s take a closer look at the brights compared with their MAC dupes…
Milani Matte Confident, MAC Ruby Woo
Milani Matte Glam, MAC Heroine
Milani Matte Orchid, MAC Flat Out Fabulous
Milani Matte Passion, MAC Lady Danger
I don’t have it to compare but I have a strong suspicion that Milani Matte Diva is a dupe for MAC Candy Yum Yum. The MAC lipsticks are slightly more pigmented with one swipe and a little brighter, but I think that the Milani dupes are a great substitute. Definitely at $5.99 compared to $16, you can get two for less than the price of one!
Overall the Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipsticks made a great first impression and I can’t wait to play with them more and create looks. Be on the look out for these at CVS, Duane Reade & Walgreens stores near you or order online at milanicosmetics.com (P.S. All lipsticks are currently 30% off with code xoxo)
