Sunday was my cousin Keina’s birthday so we headed to brunch at NoBar, actor Anthony Mackie’s Creole, Cajun & Southern Cuisine themed restaurant in Crown Heights Brooklyn. It used to be a laid back bar with a chilled out vibe and included a pool table along with themed nights such as karaoke and live music, but recently underwent renovation and added food to the line up including a brunch menu.
While waiting for everyone to arrive we started with a round unlimited Mimosas and Bellinis while we took lots of pics and chatted. The Mimosas were delicious with just the right balance of champagne and orange juice.
I ordered the Seafood Gumbo and it was delicious. Well seasoned and spiced. I ate every last drop. Half of the table ordered the Croissant French Toast while one person ordered the Fried Catfish & Grits and another the Shrimp & Grits. All you heard was forks clapping the plates as everyone cleared their plates with no complaints!
The prices were reasonable and although our waitress seemed to be working alone she was very attentive and on point. We never had to wait too long for service and she checked on us frequently to make sure all was well. After we finished eating we stayed a while to enjoy more drinks and catch up. Good times.
